do any listening figures for the webcast of toca radio exist? If yes, what percentage of the audience live within the catchment area for the relevant circuit?
Would a live qualifying day broadcast actually add anyone to the circuit attendence on the raceday and what would the cost of attracting those additional spectators, if any, be. Are there other promotional tools and methods that would give a more effective response for the costs involved? I'm advised by one of the originators of the RadioWeb concept that that the only time anyone listens is when they can't get to the event for normally geographic reasons. These points are not meant to be negative, just examining the subject from a business viewpoint. Remember the btcc no longer has a title sponsor. |

I commented early on last season that having qualifying on the net would be useful, but if the cost is so prohibitive then I realise that might not be possible. For me, that's the time, if there is any, when I'm not likely to be at the track and it would be nice to know what's going on in qualifying (there's something extremely anorak like about sitting in front of a computer screens watching the live timing on MST) I've never actually listened to Radio Toca on the net, so can't comment on it.
One thing I will say is just look how bad it was in 2000 when we had to rely on the circuit PAs and didn't get the radio coverage - 2001 was an absolute godsend after that - even if it does mean that I offer other people free entertainment whilst getting my radio and headphones in the most wonderful knots whilst trackside See you at Easter, Al and you can relax, so far we haven't got any pitlane walkabout stunts planned |

TOCA RADIO is great . I always try and tune in to races that i cant get to to watch at the circuit. And it certainly keeps you in the touring car groove , which keeps you more interested , and makes it more of a must when the series comes to a circuit near you.

Remember to check out the Trackside forum guys, there'll be lots of get togethers being organised in there throughout the season.

Alan (Hyde),
If you are still here... Yes, I'm sure that getting a Yahoo/Real streaming system for a weekend is stupidly expensive, so why not use streaming 'MP3' or 'Ogg Vorbis' technology? No royalty payments!!! I hate RealPlayer, and it's annoying that TOCA Radio requires it (but it's better than no TOCA Radio!). |

Carrie was right 2000 was horrible without it, and 2001 was 110% better. I especially loved your one-to-one interviews with drivers. Ian and Matt commentating how excellent what more could we ask for! I have to agree - listening to toca on the net (when I didn't get to knockhill and croft) was excellent and a must have. here's to TOCA radio and long live music requests!! |
