NZSTfan should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
V8ST - Te News, 2013

Thought i'd start a new thread seeing as NZ Motorsport and its presence on this forum has changed.

This thread should be used for anything news-wise relating to the SuperTourers 2013 season, rather than the individual round threads

I thought this was an interesting article to kick things off...

http://www.speedcafe.co.nz/2013/02/2...hter-strategy/

Seems Ray certainly has the expertise and brains to turn this series into a world class championship. Personally i think this is a very wise move to appoint Ray as the top dog, and is similar in concept to what has been done over in Aus.

I also wonder if the #2 car will get a driver this year?

Also seems that the teams and drivers are really getting a handle on the SuperTourer, with Ants amazing pole lap of 1.03.2 at HD, knocking 1.2 seconds off the existing pole lap by Kayne Scott.

Will we see 24 cars this year, and will they all be Holdens and Fords?

I hear that Hankook are looking at a car suited for them, which has been suggested by many is a Hyundai (Korean tyre company with a Korean car). If this happens this will add some new spice to the grid, and once again who could be the steerer of this. My source of this information cam from someone working in AV8.

Anyway, will be interesting to hear peoples thoughts on this

At Hampton Downs? In what context?
Or do you mean when he is at Ruapuna?

I don't know who Ray Noonan is, but sounds like they are doing the good thing and evolving their business structure as the business evolves and grows over time.

Certainly there is a lot of potential still to be tapped.

Has anyone heard of what Kayne Scott this year? is he just doing enduro's?

Also, when do people see the VF conversion coming in? when is it due for release in NZ?

I have heard that it would be very simply to turn a VE into a VF. This would of course keep us on par with the supercars.

Mark Petch has said somewhere on here previously that any changes would be done at the end of the season.

Thanks adbutler. One of the team members who i have had discussions with believes it could be earlier.

On another note, great news for SuperTourer graduate Jonny Reid

This is interesting.....

http://www.speedcafe.co.nz/2013/02/2...s-date-change/

Ray Noonan seems to be taking a very 'compliant' stance on this one, which i suppose he has to do, otherwise you rev up the supercar guys.

Does seem a pity to me though that the ST calendar has to get fiddled around because the Aussie series made some date changes. On the plus side though, the new date sits right on my birthday

I realise that this is because there are drivers that do both series, but would it happen the other way around?....doubt it.

interesting video from inside Tasman motorsports. Looks like a very slick operation that will no doubt deliver some surprises this year...

Interesting speedcafe article.

Looks to be two ST's heading down to Highlands for the opening. Also there will be the Tulloch VEII TLX.

So finally they will be sharing the same bit of asphalt.....

I can confirm that no changes to either the currant Holden Commodore model or the Ford Falcon will be made until the seasons end this year.

Raymond must know something that we dont, but maybe his "intel" is better than ours. A E class Merc would be really cool, so lets hope Crunch is right.

Agree with you there PM, would be a waste of talent to have him sitting on the side line.

I was also made aware of some other news that was supposed to break this week for the ST's, but alas, have not heard a jot.

Interesting piece of news there Blackpearl. I have been wondering what was happening with Kayne this year....I just assumed he was on another sabbatical.

Be great to see him out at Puke

Live Television is not only very expensive, but can also hurt the potential spectator gate.

Unlike V8SC, V8ST receives no subsidies or grants from either central government or local bodies.
