GT40 - Is it Genuine?
http://www.copart.co.uk/uk/Lot/39759...chId=922501590
Damaged 68 (F) GT40 at Co Part. Is it genuine or replica?. The chassis number seems to have the correct prefix. |

Addition information (click on link at bottom of car details) on their website states that it is a replica.

It says it has an estimated retail value of £120K so I doubt it's genuine, I know of kit cars worth more. Why would anyone put a genuine GT40 on a run of the mill salvage site

If you look at the "additional information", it says: THIS VEHICLE IS A SUPERFORMANCE GT40 MK1 REPLICA IT REMAINS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO MAKE PRE PURCHASE INSPECTIONS 510HP ROUSH 427 FORD V8 LEFT HAND DRIVE (LHD) ALCANTARA SEATS And of course the price is plus Vat Oh and you'll have to be a registered breaker (Approved Treatment Facility) to be able to buy it, as its a Cat B - break only. If you were such, I guess you might get away with repairing it as a track-only car. And I see Mike beat me to it! |

As Lancsbreaker says, this is a Superformance continuation GT40.
You can buy a used one in good order for less than the estimated cost of rebuilding this one, or order a new one for not much more. With certain upgrades, mainly to the correct period brakes, engine and gearbox, you can obtain full FIA papers. Several such cars are out there and regularly racing. |
