bayliss v capirossi...
Any opinions as to who you think will be the dominant rider in the team, providing they get equal equipment.

I say Loris. More experience in GP racing and knows the tracks. And he is damn good. I hope Bayliss is better tho.

I think that they will be more alike than apart.
Bayliss being a relentless animal And Capirossi who is about equally gritty. Good team. |

It should be close. Capirossi will be desperate to make up for a disappointing 2002, but neither of them have experience of the new style bikes, if anything Bayliss' Sueprbike experience will come in handy, and he already knwos everyone in the team.
I would expect Bayliss to at least come close, he is a World Champion, and, the waqy its going, perhaps the last WSB winner to win a truly competitive topline series in doing so. |

I'd say Capirossi will have the edge to start with, but onec Bayliss learns he will be up with Loris, maybe infront, before too long.
Whether the bike is competitive or not is another story. |

Bayliss. I agree with Boots that Loris too has no experience on the bike so is starting from roughly the same area as Troy.

at the end of teh season i expect Loris to be ahead.
But troy is more likely to have the best result (a win, a podium, whatever) i think. |

If Bayliss starts this season like he ended the last one, in the wrong frame of mind, Loris will wipe the floor with him. But I think Troy will have the upper hand, if his heads right.

hey, gsr! Why didn't you make it a poll? Anyway, I really don't care as long as we have 7 manufacturers winners in 2003 and 9 in 2005-2006

Has to be Capirex, He's already faster than Bayliss at the recent Sepang tests

The new Ducati was seriously impressive in early tests at Sepang. The time set by Capirossi would have had it well near the front of the grid.
Ducati have a massive amount of racing experience and know what they are doing when it comes to motorcycle racing. I don't see them struggling for more than a few races. I predict they'll be championship contenders in 2004. |

Bayliss needs to be on the pace for the season opener. At the moment he is off the pace. I hope he can come to grips with it all because we need as many people up front hassling Rossi.

I don't think that we should worry much about Bayliss.
He is adapting very well to the new machine. |

Yeah, i just saw the times in sepang - looks like he's going to be strong this year although the Ducati seems off the pace. (If i keep saying something/somebody is off the pace they seem to become quick so heres hoping!)
