ringtrainer help needed
hi guys, i was hoping u could tell me how to get my ringtrainer working. at the moment when i try to run it it says: Run-time error '75' then below: Path/File access error.
i'm currently working on getting all cars negative at all tracks, and i really dont want to have to do a whole lap of the ring untimed all those times. cheers. |

I must admit I haven't used it for a long time. I just use a modified track.ini which lets me start about 9/10ths around the "out" lap. I never used Ringtrainer to go over and over bits of the track.
Have you properly set the path to your gpl.exe? Have you got the VisualBasic runtime files installed? Refer to the Ringtrainer help file if you're not sure about these things. |

how do you modify the .ini ayse? what your talking about with starting 9/10ths around is all I want to do as well, so that should suffice.

/sierra/gpl/tracks/nurburg/track.ini
go down to the bottom of the file until you find the pit lane section you'll find this line stall_0 = 230.00 -9.30 set it to this stall_0 = 21000.00 0.0 |

Ozy, you would have got there eventually anyway.
You're a very quick driver, just look at the progress you've made recently. |

You certainly put me to shame at the Ring. I really have my work cut out to get near you!

i've been thinking, i use a joystick in GPL and i think this maybe my advantage over some others who use wheels, because although wheels are more realistic i think the quicker reaction times i can get in the joystick for steering might help. also, i have more feel with the throttle as i am using my right hand not my right foot which is more sensitive.
also, i've just been looking at your race reports from last seasons TTFRL and I have to say i havent got that level of consistency yet, most of my hot-laps come at the expense of many more spun away into the bushes. i think i might concentrate on that side of my driving before the season starts. |

That's the only reason I beat Ayse last year. I'm not as quick out right, but because I race more than I hotlap I can hit near my best lap times lap after lap without error.

I suspect we're all pretty close now. Damon is right though, hot-lapping doesn't actually do very much except improve your rank and thereby, perhaps, increase your confidence. You win races by not making mistakes (or making less mistakes than everyone else). In many races, you don't actually need to get anywhere near your best hot-lapping times to win (although I had to work very hard in the end for 2nd place at Kyalami...... )

Yeah, ozy, you want to see a great example of what a TTFL race is like download this replay. The battle at the end between Ayse and Tony is great to watch.
