How to rid a footwell of water?
Rained a lot recently, got in the car this morning to find a drivers side footwell full of water! NICEEEEEEEEE!
 Anyone got idea's for checking how it has got there? I thought door seals and stuff but just cant see any signs where it has got in. Suggestions please? I have thought about drilling a hole in the floor to act as a plug but I wanna try and stop the water getting in since it will freeze up on the inside when it gets cold Suggestions please guys

Oooh, nasty!
I'd check the air inlet vents, as that is the only area (I'd think) that would let that much water through. The vents are already gutter-shaped, so I wouldn't be suprised if a rusthole had formed above your footwell. |

I would also check the drains under the bonnet. The ones just at the bottom of the windscreen where the water drains through. If these are filled with leaves and other bits car will flood. Well mine did!

I'm gonna rip out the carpet on Saturday and get a hospipe out until I find the fricken leak!!!! hehe I'll silicone it up or parge it up with something. The air vent sounds a possibility, I'll have a good look at that!

Just a hint you may want to check, it could be a leak from the windscreen which is running down the inside of the fire wall into the footwell. Get some Sikaflex (Non Curing silastic) and see if you can get at the base of the screen from the inside of the car.

I had a Jag with the same problem and it turned out to be blocked sunroof drians also check under the tray for corrosion if its at the back of the engine bay.

Hi guys!
I've just been outside having a damn good look around and I reckon it's possibly 2 things! I'm almost certain its the sunroof as the drains looked blocked and the funny air-seal is has is a bit loose. I have used some silicone and sealed it shut now Also I think water is getting into the boot as the rear water bottle has water on the outside, so I'm gonna dry it right otu and take it to a car wash and jet wash it to try and find how/where it gets in! Damn car! Thankfully, it's still fun to drive (even with a footwell of water) hehe

If you sprinkle a little talc powder around you may see the trails of water a bit better.

Just check that the radiator water is not leaking from the heater matrix. Water on the rear screen wash bottle might well be condensation?

I have a 205 and the sunroof is ****. It sounds like the most likely culprit

My Alfa GTV used to do that - but only if parked facing down a hill during a rainstorm.....
never did find the leak, and always parked facing up hill from then on. |

I had a Mk3 Escort that leaked like a very leaky thing, I removed the carpets eventually. Part-exchanged that for a Dutton kit car, a roadster with 'sidescreens' instead of doors, and that let less water in than the Escort!!
All the usual suggestions have already been made- door seals, vents, windscreen etc.
