kickstart should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
I would guess that to run seriously in FF1600 you would be looking at minimum of £50K per year, i suspect that some are also spending closer to £100k. This is just my assumption from spectating and racing in FF1600 many years ago.

It's more like £10k - £20k for FF1600. Anymore would be a waste of money. £100k would get you a top drive in FF1800 (Zetec).

My mistake, I was referring to FF1600 when maybe I should have said Zetec.

The only ones making ca$h today are the series owner, so it's normal we see series growing like mushrooms!

I can't see why teams in FBMW in the UK want 100K for a whole season, when last year in Spain you could do 18 FBMW races and a bunch of tests for 35000 euros. I've glossed over the FBMW regs and it doesn't seem like you can or have to do much to the car, so why the huge cost difference?

Because its Britain and because its Carlin, and because somehow the Spanish do all their racing cheaper

Overall, Spain appears to have it together when it comes to formula racing. They have good racing, good crowds, good prize money, good tv, etc. Not to be too harsh, but the problem I have with the UK, is the racing industry is still stuck in a 1960's time warp when it comes to the business and promotional side of things. If I'm going to pay $170,000 Us dollars to race a FBMW in the UK, than there better be some major benefits in return to offset that cost. And right now i can't see that.

I thought price-wise FBMW was supposed to bridge the gap between karts and FR or F3. I guess not.

UNBOP: FBMW 14 test days only.
Bobie: As Joey Foster showed at the end of the year and Ben Clucas showed at the beginning, You can be competitive in Fford on a small budget, I don't know what there budgets were but it would be nowhere near the £100k+ for BMW and you can get loads more testing. If you are serious about driving next year, now is a good time to talk to the teams.
In my opinion drivers learn alot more on the track than in smart hospitality units, even if the car doesn’t have wings, carbon fibre tub and a smart logo.
