Speed Humps

Thought you might like to know that , after only 11 months of hard slog and a Small Claims Court case, a member of the Quantum Owners Club has had an offer from his local council which will cover the replacement of a squashed exhaust!
Not only was the offending hump more like a wall than a hump , it was unsigned and unmarked!
Has anyone else had a similar success? The Construction and Use regs don't, as far as I know, stipulate a minimum ride hight so perhaps owners of low cars could 'ave 'em for obstructing the roads!!

The same applies to potholes, if you report a pothole in writing to the local authority with its exact location they are obliged by law to repair it.

If they have not done so within 28 days and a vehicle ( wheel, tyre, suspension, underside etc ) is damaged as a result they are obliged to pay for the repairs.

Currently local councils are paying out more in compensation than they are spending on road repairs.

National and local government now take over £45 BN in motoring taxes and spend only £4Bn of that on new roads, road repairs, and public transport subsidy all rolled in to one.

If you call up you local council website and follow 'Reporting road defects' you can demand holes you find are repaired, and the more people that do that the better.

Our roads have never been in a worse state, yet they always have money for these insane humps.

Maybe if the built the stupid things right in the first place they wouldn't have this problem.

The main road in my home town had new pavements installed two years ago, they're already begining to repalce them because they're uneven and cracked.

Probably because people park on them!

Fortunately my car is rally bred and proven by Her Majesty's Constabulary (Humberside among others) to be particularly adept at negotiating speed humps in a certain manner:- absolutely flat out!

imull has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
When I was probably about 5, I hit a pot hole on my bike and my nice new christmas present bike light fell out and got destroyed along with the tyre and rim.

I wrote a letter to the local council office and they arranged for me to go to the local bike shop and replace them at the councils cost...

It must cost Macclesfield Borough Council an absolute fortune (no wonder my Council Tax is so high! )...

"I wish to make a compensation claim. I hit a pot hole/speed hump/council worker (delete as appropriate) on your poorly maintained roads in Wilmslow and bent my rims!"

"Ah, yes sir. Can you give me the details of your car?"

"Certainly. It's a Ferrari F50."
