Thats makes 17 full season + 1 partial season
Given there is still several months to the start of the season, I think its safe to say we will see a 20+ car grid Interesting to see Chris Buncombe of Rocket RJN say that its 1M+ Euros for a season in DTM even with GT3 |

It seems 16 full-time entries and 2 part-time. Hopefully there will be more. We can expect one more Mercedes, from Mücke, however don't think there'll be more than one.
ROWE may field a third car and possibly Walkenhorst may field a second. And I can't see anyone else coming over. However, we can have some surprises. |

the quality of entrants so far is great, it seems unlikely we will land on only 16 full season entries, give it a little time! |

I don't think we have anything to worry about. The grid already looks good. And there is still room for more quality too.

Lambo would be great, as would the other two you mention. But if not this year, there’s always an opportunity for others to come in next year

Seems fantastic but I don't think we'll see Lambos, quite sure there'll be no Honda. There's a chance for Astons through RacingOne if I remember correctly.

Marco Wittmann confirmed in a Walkenhorst BMW. Great to see that, we have yet another former champion on the grid. Quite a shame it looks like Wittmann is the only Walkenhorst driver and it leaves BMW with three cars - unless a M4 GT3 appears later in the season.

Good entry, Walkenhorst was never announced as a multi car entry. Wonder if they will do IGTC again as well

It looks like 17 full-time entries (if rumours about Mücke prove to be true) plus JP Motorsport. Far from ideal to be honest but this year was always going to be a bit transitional one.

17 is ok, though hopefully the quality will be there throughout the grid

Quality should be a big asset of the DTM, many big names already confirmed. It's also good that names such as Wittmann, Glock, Auer, Müller etc provide some sort of continuity - yes, DTM will change quite a lot but there are still household names in it.

The DTM has always been able to attract the big names and even with a major rule change, it still should. A good start with plenty of top quality teams in the series. Not surprised people like Wittman and Abt are still in it. And Glock has been able to make a good career in the DTM, even if I do miss him in F1. So we should have the same quality and the new formula should be able to help keep series improve over the next few years

Its a shame its only looking like 17 cars, we still have some time til season start but I think weve almost exhausted the rumour mill.
Regardless of total car counts, you can't argue with 7 factory-backed AMG GT3's, 5 factory-backed R8 GT3's, 3 factory-backed M6 GT3's, a pair of very strong Red Bull supported Ferraris, and the Mclaren wildcard. Thats hard to argue with, sure it would have been nice to see a few Porsches, Lamborghinis, a full season Mclaren entry, Honda etc, but that thought could easily wander into fantasy land, so I think what we are going to end up with is pretty good going! |

I hope next year can bring more teams and more manufacturers. The transition to GT3 was announced quite late, for some teams it was tough to change plans or find finances to add a new programme. The Covid landscape doesn't help either.
It's still a shame there are not at least 20 cars, having '2' in front always seems better but I agree, it doesn't seem that there will be more teams/drivers this year. I'm still looking forward to this season. GT3 cars aren't as fast but are still great to watch and it'll be exciting to see such high-profile drivers battling on track and not having to share a car. Single-driver format always puts a bigger impact on an individual driver which is always more exciting, especially as in 60minute races (such as ADAC GT) driver changes seem a bit pointless. |

I'm glad to finally see Paffett officially back- even though we all new it was +90% probable.
But was quite surprised by Abrils name. Ok, is not surprising in a GT3/Haupt Racing context, but many sources, even those which first mentioned Hubert Haupt returning for a few rounds almost certainly said it will be Ghiotto. Unlucky guy again failing to get a GT3 seat? |
