I have never and would never stab anyone in the back, I am an up front guy. I presume

at present, you are thinking that you have supplied us all with your superior words of

The best action you could have taken was to ignore my post and let it die there, but no

I notice you have over 6000 posts to your name, haven't learnt much have you.

Why should it worry any of you that a few of us are more interested in Tin tops that have badges and engines that share DNA?

My first issues with ST was the way it came about, and now the fact that nobody has the stomach for a legal outcome means we will never know if the process was morally or legally right.

What has become abundantly clear since that point however is the most distasteful part of ST is the arrogance of a small section of their fans. I didnt think I would ever struggle to get on with a fellow "petrolhead" but I think the feral holden fans on the mountain might make better company.

I will still find plenty of passionate, knowledgeable and genuine Motorsport fans to talk to in the real world over the summer which will make up for all the drivel I have read on here.

Please everybody promise to take note so Maxi doesn't have to keep wasting bandwidth.

I would encourage those who dislike the series to discuss the many other issues and topics around the sport. There is still plenty to talk about.

This is just typical of some on here who keep bashing a series that just keeps delivering.

This whole argument about 'DNA' is just rubbish....something for the haters to hide behind

Truth is the BNT V8ST's are now the leading tin-top class in NZ, and now, after only one season has nabbed one of the most exciting drivers from a far more established, yet similar series, V8SC.

If you want to see motorsport evolution and innovation in the one place then stay tuned. If not, look and post in other threads.

No-one cares about outdated opinions and if something or morally or ethically correct (a subjective matter in itself).

Bring on the future and get rid of the deadwood

BTW thanks for the link adbutler helpful as always

Good man

Goat Boy has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
Anyway, nobody is holding a gun to the head of Promax, Joe, Ugy or Blueblood and saying that they have to like, attend or watch ST events. That is fine if they don't want to, horses for courses. I don't like rallying, for example, because I think it is boring unless you are driving one, I don't like bike racing either. But that's not to say they're not valid forms of motorsport, they're just not for me.

Therefore if Joemaxugyblood don't like ST's, all good, but most of the rest of us do and are excited about the best thing to happen to NZ motorsport in some years, in our opinions. So leave it at that, there is no point in trying to run it down, especially as next season it will be the Tier 1 MNZ sanctioned series.

To those of you on your high horses about the way it came about, I put it to you that you don't know the half of it, and if you did you might understand that Mr Petch et al did not break away so they could line their pockets (I mean what a joke, nobody goes into motorsport to make money), it was out of sheer frustration at the lack of progress with the way things were. And then some.

So if you don't like what it is, why don't you just find something that you do like? Start a Muscle Car or Rally thread, I'm sure there are plenty of people who would be interested.

Good night.

Nobody said you were no-one, what's more you are obviously a tasteful chap if you like Mustangs, but there are lots of good classes for you to watch that aren't ST's if they don't float your boat. CMC, F5000, Pre-65, Historic Muscle, etc. etc. all of which I love

And the Can Ams should be great this weekend too!

Not really, as a spectator sport it is interesting for perhaps the first half hour while all the quick ones go through, then they get slower and you see the same old corner fifty times, then you have to drive for miles to get to the next stage (which the quick ones may actually beat you to and then you might miss them) and then it's the same again. Nobody is racing anything except the clock.

It is better on TV, as you get to see the whole run, but generally I'm not a time trials person. But like I said, whatever floats your boat

Interesting article on Speedcafe about how the Nissan in the V8SC is short on horsepower http://www.speedcafe.com/2013/01/18/...-season-nears/

See you just don't have to worry about things like that with a single spec engine. Everyone these days seems to think parity is the way it needs to be, and if that is the case then the ST package has a pretty good fix on that.

Man goat boy you don't know how to watch rallies. You leave after the top cars then drive back roads at pace to make sure you see the top guys

It's a tricky one I reckon - in many ways I like motorsport to be like F1 should be, which is an unbridled technology hunt with enormous budgets. America's Cup yachting is like that too, innovation, design and of course budget.

But the trouble is that most commentators agree that those huge budgets are not sustainable, they certainly favour only a select few teams who have big backers, which has the danger of alienating the public and it becoming a rich man's sport only. It also perhaps doesn't always allow the best drivers to win the championships, as they may not be in the best car.

So the whole parity thing comes up, particularly for the lower echelons of motorsport where budget is of concern. Then you can have it like it was in the Group A days, where one car wins everything which turns punters off, or you can try and achieve parity to let the drivers shine.

The trouble with trying to achieve parity with different makes and models is that it then does not actually reflect who has the better car or the better engine, as everyone will be slowed down to the levels of the slowest car, so it's not representative of the innovation or design abilities of a particular marque in any way, shape or form.

Which leaves us with what the ST's do, which looks and sounds nice and there is only 2 seconds covering the entire field at qualifying, which I quite like as it turns out. But it's an argument that has no absolutes, because if you look deep enough into any of the different approaches, there are always drawbacks as far as attracting all of the fans all of the time. You might decry the single power plant as being a bad idea, but the reality of it is that the only difference it makes is in the mind of the affected fan.

If you want to go and watch a great day's racing with a full grid and good looking cars (now with a packed support programme) then you might just find that the ST's do that in spades. It's just a case of looking hard enough at the logic of why you feel the way you do.

Otherwise, you should go to HD this weekend or next, that will be a very cool event

Personally i have known about this for some time, and hinted at this about a month or so ago. I've been biting my tongue ever since, so am glad now that its all out and official.

My favourite driver in my favourite series....can't get better than that

And i am sure having SVG in the series will certainly draw larger crowds.

Over the moon. Well done V8ST, your certainly cementing the series as a world class touring car category.

Hopefully this will lead to a few more of the bigger name supercar drivers to head over for the 4 enduros (not that its that big a deal to have supercar drivers in the series - just a field of top quality drivers from around the globe.
I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but the ST will always only be world famous in the north island of NZ (until they fold of course)

Im more interested in how you found a new XR8 at a ford dealer......or a V8 Ford Falcon.......A V8 FPV yes (but it has a Supercharger bolted to it) So they fixed it by not selling it

Someone I respect taught me the following "theres a difference between scratching your arse and tearing it to pieces"

It had gone beyond the legal case, and continuing on with it would have only served to damage the sport even further, hence the saying above.

I guess we will also never know what really went on in MPL either legally or morally...
