I'm lead to believe the Fiat Uno is not too far removed from it's contankerous Group A specification.

The Oxo Sierra shell was heading to Sims metal when Mike got it so hardly a victim of Sports Sedan cannibalisation. The Uno was run more in Street Cars I thought than Sports Sedans in WA and I am pretty sure is as Umai said is not far modified. Mustang if it is in the Bowden collection cant of been too far gone either.
The ex Bond Sierra that OBrien ran in NSW had a hard life but that has or is being returned to group A spec. Could add the Kevin Clark Mustang perhaps to the list but Kevin did build the car originally so that is a little different. So as it stands there is still less than 5 identified cars lost, hardly worth the Sports Sedan category having this negative stigma so often mentioned in AMC and on forums. If people were complaining about F5000 being lost then that is a valid argument. On your point David, pre Ashwood I think it was Beech Thomas who put in years of hard yards did he not to get the Grp C category off the ground?. I remember he use to take private advertisements out in RCN each month trying to get support. |

Beach and others got Group C historic recognition, and I thank them.
Terry is instrumental in Group A having a place to race in Historics. Without his efforts Group A cars would still be racing in Sports sedans or being *******ised. I've been lucky enough to spend time with Terry on and off the track, he is a gentleman and the key to Group A being Historic today. Lets move on, there is no benefit to who did what when....moving forward and putting more cars on grids at key race meetings is what we are about now.... Nev. |

The Uno is something that Im one thinking it should have been destroyed.
Chassis the same engine developed. But event history and driver history is something that marks this car in my mind. Wasnt one of the Alfa 75's molested? |

One came here after it finished its Group A days.
It was owned and use by a lot of west australian locals. John Hurney, Ian Love, Ray Miles, Steve Renshaw and many others have had a run or five in the car. When Steve got the car it was modified inside the cockpit area and I think had a bit of a heart transplant. (no longer 5 litres. Could be wrong there) This was just before the Cat team build started. (What could of been!) |

To a very special V8Supercar for a moment... unraced as it may be.. it has been driven by Jenson Button, Casey Stoner, Jamie Whincup, Craig Lowndes and I am sure a host of other luminaries too numerous to name...
Of interest though is perhaps the first 'official' indication that this chassis is somehow different from its sisters and brothers... Anyone notice the oddity... No? How about the bit where it started life as a Ford, and was rebodied as a Holden. That it retains its KRE Ford engine is interesting. Is that like a trans gender who didnt have the operation yet? Of more interest of course is any mention of times from Mr Button, or anyone else in this car, are meaningless with a Ford engine in a Holden body.. its a bitzer, and a sports sedan/ride car that is unlikely to be able to run in the development series without a refit... even if it has lapped Bathurst, at the Grand Prix in the speed comparison and many other places, purporting to be a V8Supercar, when it now clearly isnt/wasnt... |

Bond French '79 Bathurst XC
Chasing info on this XC. I was watching the Hardies Heroes dvd & it got me wondering where the 'Cool Cat' ended up!
The only info i've ever heard was it may have been stored in an Adelaide workshop, but that was over 10 years ago & no info since.... Anyone?? |

Correct re: Bond French XC being in Adelaide.
I spotted it sitting outside a back street workshop in Kent Town a few years ago. Its basically painted in the original colours minus logos, numbers etc & like so many old skool show cars its riding on 19+ inch modern style 'chromies'.....a look that l find degrading to the era! . |

As you can see from the ad it was run by Maurice Pickering during a few ATCC rounds as well. |

Early V8 Supercars for Historic Grouping?
I have been hearing plenty of rumours around the traps that the introduction of early V8 Supercars as an Historic Category is imminent. Even getting a demonstration run at the Winton Historic Festival of Speed in August. Adding to this is that a high-level Eligibility Officer in the Historic Commission has just snapped-up an early Commodore himself.
