There are complete ASCAR's that just need the road course tweaks for as little as £7000 ($14000). With the Lingenfelter tuned GM ASA motors fetching anything from $4250 to $8000 in used condition, that makes them very cheap!
The are only a small handful running at Snetterton this coming weekend. I won't be there, my car is only 40% complete following a chassis swap. Another team also isn't ready (2 cars), and the driver for the #99 car can't do it due to business commitments. Cadwell Park will be the real start of the season. And I told them at the beginning of the year, we'd need until the second week in April to prepare. Did they listen? No. Never mind. |

Crazy cheap, would be cool to buy a top Cup team car with running gear and just run it on track days here (australia), if I put street tyres on might even be able to get temp movement permits (for the street) how cool would that be!

Right now, I have no idea how many are going to be there! The BRSCC didn't release any information in the published finals.
Should be a good fight between Kevin Clarke in his Eurocar V8 and Colin White in the ASCAR. Power & weight wise, they're pretty well matched. Tony Hurdle (#98 ASCAR) is new to circuit racing, so he's got a lot of learning to do. I'm working on my car all weekend, so I'm not going. Hopefully - at Lydden - it should look something like this: CWS - 2 cars (78, tba) Revolution - 3 cars (98, 99, tba) Team Networking - 2 cars (30, 31) Hobday - (20) Weaver (77) RCR (59) Another driver with a car is hoping to get out, but needs to get his licence up to Nat.A first. Revolution were hoping to test with another hopeful driver at Snetterton yesteday - though I guess the weather was against them. That could lead to them running four. Rob. |

I wish I knew - it's down to the panel that decides what's what, and we all know that common sense has no part in it!

Yep, it was pants!
Both ASCAR's suffered fuel pickup problems in practice, with the 99 still suffering in the first race, as well as a gearbox problem. The 78 (Colin White) had a puncture in race 1, which meant he had some work to do in race 2, and won. As you can see from the results on TSL's site - Colin White got his sorted and won the second race. Tony Hurdle (99) still had gearbox trouble in race 2. It was a poor turn out on all accounts - with the same excuse being given in all camps - not enough time to prepare. We were told that there were 6-8 V8 Eurocars planning to be out, about the same of the V6's, and maybe 10 SS's. Let's see what Cadwell brings, however I think the feeling is that more testing needs to be done on the ASCAR's to iron out the bugs, and rounds 5/6 at Lydden is probably more likely to have a representative grid. |

Cadwell was much the same -only thing different, I was in the #99 car instead of Tony Hurdle. Man that was fun! The cars are neutral in general, power oversteer on tap, and the brakes are just about up to it.
There's a great picture on the "Cadwell Pictures" website - http://cadwellpics.ifp3.com/root/cad...hoto/main2.cfm If you scroll through the car racing gallery for 12th April, I think it's pic number 1062 - you can see that Colin White was enjoying himself. Grin factor on a scale of 1-10 : 12! Must get my car ready now. Lydden hill in 48 days. Colin is aiming to bring out two cars, not sure who's driving the other one as his Brother, Keith, is leading the SS class in the series. A driver has been found for the #99 car, and Tony will be out with his #98 car. Team Networking have confirmed their new driver to partner Duncan Gray, who is Paul Bowman, formerly known as the paramedic on the Safety 1 truck at Rockingham. Steve Hobday keeps saying he'll be out, though not sure whether he'll make the trip to Lydden. Rumour has it that John Steward is coming out with both cars, which probably means Skid Carerra will be out in the #11 car. Eeek On the ex-Eurocar front, will we see John Cross and Greg Rose among others with V8's, and the other V6s that are being dusted off?? Hope so. I reckon Brands Hatch will see more out than Lydden. French involvment? Do Aerospatiale breed pigs? Rob. |

That pic is pretty awesome - I aint never seen a stock car fly (intentionally)the grid size looks tiny again and the racing doesn't seem close. There seems to be lots of promises but how long is this financially viable Rob, even you seem a bit down on it now! Would a different club help?

Not sure if any one can confirm this but there was a rumour going around Lydden yesterday that the Pickup Trucks are not using the oval at Rockingham now.

That would be a huge shame if true. Is this the beginning of the end of the Rock?

The Pickups are very much on the Oval.
Sonny Howard has the ear of Alfie Buller (at the moment). The Rock has a 15 year "contract" with Northants County Council, it is part of the East Midlands Development Agency's plans to regenerate Corby, and get people in there spending money. However, someone hasn't woken up to the fact that the BRSCC couldn't fill a shopping basket, let alone a 55000 seater stadium venue designed for high speed oval racing which is an entertainment, rather than a load of tedious small grid races on the infield circuit. While the BTCC fills it to around 20-30000 people, many of those tickets are dealer give-away tickets, rather than paying "customers", and they PAY to hold the series. There are always rumours going around about Rockingham, most of it is complete cods, generated by ignorance, and people who want the place to fail because it's not one of the established "traditional" circuits. For the place to thrive it needs more formulae on the oval, with more cars, providing more entertainment, and getting people in through the gate. Please oh please follow the lead of Castle Combe, and put racing on that the locals (and not so locals) want to see there. Run it in house, count the gate receipts as a figure of the success, market it, and build from it. After those 15 years are up, the respective councils won't give the place the concessions that it's had to date. The site is contaminated ex-steelworks ground, and as such is not viable for housing development due to the vast cost of cleaning it up. If you want rumours - it's that championships are backing out of Lydden because Pat wants too much circuit hire for the place! It's probably more like he wants more of a going rate, but in return for that, they need to work on the facilities more. A proper cafe would be a good start - with Mrs Best Bacon Butty in the world in charge! |
