The Top five were in the 1:13s or better (Joest Audi was low 1:12s or high 1:11s for the pole?), the 2nd Panoz and the Intersport Judd were in the 1:14s, the Intersport R&S was in the 1;15s to round out the top seven...
The speed of the field dropped like a rock from there....American Spirit was in the 1:17s The WR and the Essex racing 675s qualified in the 1:24s and all of the GTS cars were at least 5 seconds off their practice times that they had been running thus far this week.... However, the front of the filed should be a shootout in the early stages....let's see who holds together and keeps out of harm's way.... and although the Ferraris wer faster in qualifying, I'm still interested in seeing how GTS shakes out tomorrow... I'll be tuned in on SpeedChannel in the morning.... |

Apparently the GTS and GT qualifying took place shortly after it had rained, and they ended up drying the track off ofr the prototypes....
sure explains why they were so much slower in quals today... You can bet that the WR and the Essex Racing 675 will get their carbon fiber blown off by the Ferraris and the Corvettes in the early laps if it is even remotely dry (and it is supposed to be tomorrow)... |

Thanks for the grid, Rob, and have fun at Brands !
I'm surprised that the WR's so good, but will it hold the whole race ? Good thing for the WR team anyway... and Yojiro Terada, especially, who's the most japanese of the Le Mans racer... |

I listened to the 'Petit' live on the ALMS Web/radio start to finish...with the lap data on the screen. British race series could learn something from the Americans....Great service!
The Prodrive lads drove their wheels off and beat the Corvettes by 9 laps...and still lost the Manufacturers title to GM!!! Hats off to Biela and Werner what a recovery drive! Watching them moving up the data screen (after their early Turbo failure) kept me awake! |
