Well, I've got it. The cars looks great. Igor looks quite daunting.
But..... I don't seem able to join any races. I'm getting communications timeouts every time I try........ |

The thing don't work atm / Bye for the wknd
Damn, GEM+2 ain't loading anything, whenever I try I get one of those MS pop ups which says "GPL has to close - sorry for this inconvenience". But when I use my back-up copy of the gpl.exe, going to the path in the Start menu, it loads fine. So I think it might be something to do with when GEM updates the exe's that's the problem. Going away down to Larkhall tonight for the shakedown club meeting this weekend, ahead of Rd 3 of the S1 in a few weeks. Got Monday & Tuesday off school, so will have time then to get the mod up and running. Have fun over the weekend guys, see ya later |

No problems at all on any of mine. Run the installation, ran Gem+ and both the game and igor kicked in a charm first time. Lucky me I guess. Are there any setups about for this already? I could really do with them.
I'd agree that we really do need to race with this. We've done the '67 thing and I feel this mod will provide far better racing as the cars are much easier to drive. It'll mean less effort in keeping the cars on the black stuff and more effort on good battles. That certainly appeals more to me than another season following each other about in the '67's where we know who's gonna be quick and who isn't. |

yeah, some setups are available but i don't get on with any of them
The hardest part is appropriately shortening the gear ratios, and remembering that they're all six-speed. I have to say i do miss the lively back end of the 67 cars. |

Well, I've installed the mod with no problems (so far) and done about 3 laps at Monaco in the Lotus and 5 laps at Watkins Glen in the Ferrari.
First impressions are it is quite a bit easier to drive. You really have to keep them wound up and obviously the braking distances are shorter because of the lower speeds. One thing I have found is that there's far more grip at low speed than the '67 cars. I know from reading RSC threads that the low speed grip in GPL was out slightly. Has this been adjusted in the '65 mod? I'd never used GEM before, but it seems straight forward enough. I haven't tried IGOR yet, that's something I'll try tomorrow morning/lunchtime if anyone is going to be around. I reckon we should organise a TTFRL (and any other Ten Tenthers of course ) race(s) as an experiment just to see how it goes. Only then can we think about the inclusion of '65 rounds in TTFRL Season 3. As the saying goes, 'You never know until you try it.' Last edited by Spudgun; 30 Apr 2004 at 23:08. |

Oh yeah, I don't know what the 'going rate' is at Watkins Glen, but in the Ferrari after 5 laps I was on 1:11.48.
Damon, we should have a rematch at the Glen, Star Wars style. In that I mean racing the '67 cars before the '65's! |

I did a low 1.12 at Watkins, i think.
Could now be a mid to high 11, i'm not sure. |

BEFORE installing GPL, you should be sure your installation is ready for the 65mod.
Please read VERY carefully the information posted at the 65Mod site GPL 65Mod Site . Also, be 100% sure you read AND understood: a. GEM+ 2 and iGOR Combined Install b. iGOR - Grand Prix Legends Online Racing specially FOR ALL USERS iGOR - Options MANDATORY FOR SERVER MANAGERS iGOR - Hosting iGOR - Remote Hosting iGOR - Remote hosting iGOR - Technical |

See the sticky thread there Spud, yes IIRC the low speed grip thing has been fixed. IMO the cars are a bit too easy on the exits. All the skill of controlling the back end has gone. Driving Mosport last night i was full throttle from about half way down the hill and there wasn't the slightest hint of oversteer. Good for racing, but boring after a while. Arturo, i haven't created a new player yet... Last edited by pirenzo; 1 May 2004 at 08:32. |
