Time for a big call here - unless Webber wins at least one grand prix, there won't be an Australian F1 grand prix after the expiry of the current contract. Such a non-event this year

Three hundred odd thousand would disagree with you, but why would you say it was a non event

Webber's got nothing to do with it. The AGP's been around for almost 4x as long as Webber has beenin F1.

Nowhere near the buzz either in Vic or interstate for non fans. A local winning wouldrevive it as an event that interests Joe Public (as opposed to the kind of people who message here), hence the Webber reference. Ask a taxi driver what he thinks. With the contract approaching renewal, people will be asking themselves: How much should you pay for this event?

Oh and 300K is only three big games at the MCG.......

I've found a solution. Just do what i do and ignore any figures put out by TC and anybody associated with him. Works for me anyway.

This is the V8 media release with regards to Clipsal audience figures
http://www.v8supercar.com.au/news/la...=&gid=32660374
Clipsal TV Audience
Saturday: Ave 540000 Peak 761000
Sunday: Ave 710000 Peak 1069000

The article posted on the first page doesn't compare the peak with average, but it doesn't seem to be comparing the average with the average so who knows what is being compared.

Peckstar it seems you are the one that wants to spin things.

No one else here is spinning anything - all we want is the truth and going on the numbers for the Sunday race at Clipsal, V8s had an average audience of 710,000 while the Grand Prix (the race) on Sunday had an average audience of over 1,000,000 viewers.

You asked for proof and that is proof but does any of this help motorsport?? No it doesnt but what it does do is highlight that Tony Cochrane and whoever the moron is that puts this information out, are damaging the credibility for V8s because time and again, Cochrane lies and journalists no longer beleive him.

As I had said before, the sport is doing well so why does he have to lie and make the sport look stupid?? It really annoys me...

It's like the ridiculous ABS numbers they were sprouting a while ago saying they were the fastest growing sport or something ridiculous like that but when you read it, the numbers are based on motorsport as a whole not v8s and even if it was true, why do all the mainstream media hardly give it any attention apart from when avesco buy ads??

DB: Not sure about that, but as for extension of current contract, I'm seeing a repeat of history about to transpire CLICKY Here.

We all know that to get the GP, Melbourne paid an increased premium price to Bernie; (that Adelaide refused to pay, citing a call of " not economically viable at an increased price...")

If my alcohol fuddled brain allows the haze to clear long enough for me to remember.

The chief bean-counter in the state of Victoria might just squeeze Bracks the Waterless hard enough to look for change: but then all pollies are Teflon coated, and while the Mumm champers & beluga caviar flows on race day, the Premier continues to expound the virtues of the race......

" $ 42 million by 2010 " that's about 650 Nurses, Teachers or Police, (or Navajo Indian rainmakers) and guess what will buy votes in 2010, which by sheer coincidence is an election year in Victoria.....

Make the most of it Melbourne, because history shows that when Bernie gets too greedy, it becomes time to move on.

And even with Ron "two hats" Walker being chairman of the AGPC, he has as much chance of saving this, as he does of his Nuclear energy consortium converting the Albert Park Powerhouse into a Nuclear generation plant, using the lake as a cooling pond, to power the lights for "next years Night Race"
