Not many none NW people up for this chance of
1. Racing at the best circuit in the country.
2. Two races for the price of one, maybe three for some if we get the Moose Trophy race [the Free one] changed to .a qualifier and final

What happened to all the close season and pre season talk of SOM, CC and SFFC invasions to put the 'top' region in it's place. We've not seen many of you.

Removes stick from hornets nest and retires a safe distance.

IT IS DEFINITELY A QUALIFIER RACE AND A FINAL FOR THE "MOOSE" TROPHY

This is the wording to go in the Final Instructions per Bob Armstrong at BRSCC HQ

Qualification for the additional non-championship FF1600 races will be as follows: the slowest 15 qualifiers from each of the championship race practice sessions will be gridded for the Qualification Race (Race 7) with Post 86 cars in positions P1, P3, P5 etc and Pre 87 cars occupying positions P2, P4, P6 etc. The fastest competitors from the qualifying sessions will go directly on to the Race 9 grid using the same grid formation system as the qualifying race (Race 7). The results of the Qualification Race (Race 7) will be used to determine how many go forward to take part in the Trophy Race (Race 9) with the best classified positions being the more meritorious. The number that go to the Trophy Race grid (Race 9) will be limited by the number of starters permitted on the track licence taking into account those who have already qualified from the morning practice sessions.

SO GET THOSE 'Late' ENTRIES IN NOW. 2 OR 3 RACES FOR THE PRICE OF ONE.

Diz I think this is a great idea and will keep the crowd totally entertained throughout the day. This can only be good news for FF1600.

Just one question? With 15 drivers entered for the Pre 87 race does that mean all 15 will go into the qualification race? If so who will get the top grid slots for the final as ALL Pre 87's will be pre qualifying?

Any ideas?

All sounds fair to me! Pre 87s will even be on the 'quick side' for the start of race 9!

Hopefully there might be more than the current 15 Pre87s on the day, so that shouldn't be too much of a problem.
Will need to be a bit flexible on the day.
Still, whatever I say on the day will stand.
A little bit of power is good for me.

So come on all you F1600 peeps from all the regions - including Classic and Historic - let's remember Colin "Moose" Benn

Yes, I'll have plenty.

Do you mean Sarah by 'we'?
You can stick one on your roll of tank / duct / gaffer /racers tape [+vat] and hammer, as you are only the grease monkey on the 31st

Mr Jones remember that you boys will be at the back of the grid as you will have had to qualify via the qualifying race!!

Maybe it should be the top 10 from post and Pre into the final then everybody else in to the qualifier?

Looking at the notes like I said all Pre 87s will be in the qualifying race... So we should have a good race Steve!! It is that long since I have raced that I am sure it will feel a bit wierd for the first few sessions next Friday.

Not got my car back from UCLAN yet but should be racing..

Hello Chris. Much as I admire your optimism, you are assuming that a, there will be only 15 starters in the pre 87 race and b, that none of them will be able to match the pace of the slowest 15 in the post 86 race....time will tell.

If there are more entries in Pre87, that's more or less how it would be.

Example : And this will confuse you, as it sure as hell is confusing me typing it. [Diz Tip :- have several sheets of A4 to hand and a waste bin] And I stress [and I am getting very stressed] that what follows is ONLY AN EXAMPLE

A total entry of 28 Post and 22 Pre would give - after the two morning qualifying sessions - Post P14-28 and Pre P8-22 in the qualifier and Post P1-13 and Pre P1-7 in the final
This would leave the 1st 7 qualifiers from Post + Pre on the 1st 7 rows of the final grid, with P14-15 on one side and P8-15 on the other side left available for the 1st 10 finishers in the qualifier.
So, from the qualifying race, does the winner line up on row 8, 2nd on row 14, 3rd on row 9, 4th on row 15 and 5th-10th on rows 10-15.
Or do we do a bit of wrapping the numbers to fit the grid?

This all assumes
a. All drivers want to participate - racing in the Moose Trophy [Free Race]is not compulsory.
b. All drivers that want to participate survive qualifying and their championship race.

So what will happen is that after races 1 and 3, I will sit down and do a qualifying race 7 grid. If you are on it, where it says you are is where you are.
If you aren't on this grid, you will be towards the front of the Moose Trophy final race 9 pre grid. However many spaces are left on that grid will be filled by the first however many finishers from race 7.
This should give races 7 + 9 full thirty car grids.

I repeat that as far as grids for races 7 + 9 go, "The decision of the pot bellied one is final. You will be where I say you will be. Comprendez?

I'm off now to take a couple of strong pain killers as my head is starting to hurt.

It sounds about right Diz.

Maybe it should be just simple where the top 10 drivers in each class who want to race go in to the final with Post on the inside and Pre on the outside of the grid. Then everyone else goes in the qualifying race from 11th place onwards (same grid formation - Post on the inside and Pre on the Outside) How many people who qualify from the qualifying race will be determind by how many drivers end up doing the race?
