Here's another bit of American racing history with Dan Gurney driving the 999. Hey didn't Gurney also drive the Ford GT?
http://allamericanracers.com/1902-ford-999-dan-gurney/ Here's a website I did over 14 years ago about Ford's history that has some bearing on what is happening... http://www.lasersol.com/ford_museum.html Last edited by CyberMotor; 9 Jan 2015 at 01:03. |

I keep thinking about Gurney's description of driving the 999... "straddling that big flywheel which was the size of a manhole cover." That thought has made we twitch several times. |

And just imagine, if Ford had fallen for Edison's con to make his car electric nobody would care about trying to make race cars efficient because production cars would already be.

Yes the snakes are having splendid time in the series board meetings. Top notch bonus systems and healtcare benefits, easily accessible parking slots at Daytona Beach, and first class catering services provided. Spared no expense.
Oh right you meant the Vipers. Well I'm sure they're doing fine too |

Woah. So the Delta Wing just ran a 1:39.536. So far, the leader (#01 CGR DP) holds a 1:39.397. Less than two tenths the gap.

#01 Ganassi, Deltawing and Shank Ligier now within 0.15 seconds. ESM still a bit off the pace, 2.7 seconds back.
