Tim Dunlop should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Hi there,

Nipped into Donington today for an half an hour during my lunch break to have a look at the General Test. Took my camera as always and thought I would share with you a few of my shots. One of the ex Team Dynamics Integras was out on track for most of the time I was there. Not sure who was running the car there were quite a few teams there.

It was also nice to see a couple of the new Seat Leon Cupra cars testing.

I would take a guess the ex TD Integra would be John George, TH Motorsport are running it next year.

Probably not a 2007 contender, but Comtec would like to run a works team in the BTCC at some stage: http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/55767

We have that discussion every year. Show me a major team that doesn't want to run a works team.

tbd, could you add any more to what you posted in the this thread about Shane Lynch driving in SCSA. Last we heard he was doing BTCC. Is that as well as or instead of?

I reckon I could get a nice V8 in there...

Right, I'm off to Del's workshop.......

Rob.

PS: Nice to see some (more) RWD cars back into the BTCC. I expect plenty of navigation via the side windows..

i mite be sounding a bit optimistic but can we expect to see tom onslow cole in a BTCC car next season after all he ran away with the clio cup championship last year and would be more than capable running at the front of the BTCC with a half decent car under him could he maybe be racing the new privateer honda integra?

TOC was linked to Team RAC in Motorsport News a month or so back, haven't heard/read anything else about him since then.

It's odd there hasn't been any reports of Honda returning in the media though.

Also note Arena get a mention in Autosport regarding the 320si's. Seems they are keen to get in on the championship being solely S2000.

if arena do make a return to BTCC next year with a BMW 320SI they are very much with a good driver, maybe a up and coming driver like tom onslow cole or a proper proffesional driver like fabrizio giovanardi or tom chilton arena could very well win the BTCC championship with ease if they get the BMW to run well but is still just speculation and rumour?

No Mike Earle's quoted, so it's not just speculation. Arena are a proffesional squad, if they find the backing I'm sure they'd attract a good driver.

I've known mike earle for a long time and he is not the sort of guy to make quotes to the press untill it is in the bag!

He has a long proven history of doing what he says!
If he says they are returning with S2000 BMW's, i take it as a given.

Drives will be far from cheap though, as Arena will put every resource into making the cars front runners.

Not many definites... don't forget it's 4 months or so until round 1:
Vauxhall are building a S2000 car for Chilton and Giovanardi.
Motorbase have SEAT Toldeos
John George has an Integra, as does Richard Marsh
West Suffolk Racing are building up a couple of BMW 1-series

Was West Suffolk Racing a typo on Rick's part? I assume that's West Surrey Racing...or is there really a West Suffolk Racing too?

Vauxhall have confirmed they'll be racing with Vectras next season. Interesting to read that they seriously evaluated the Corsa as well though!
