Ferrari top speed and grip issue might be related to aerodynamics set up. they might be running a lower drag set up then the competition. I dont know if their top speed compare to the toyotas top speed might be an indication of that.

Cracking race, thoroughly enjoyed it and for me it was probably the most enjoyable WEC race for several years. A fantastic appetiser for Le Mans.
Just hope the Cadillac crash doesn't lead to a withdrawal, it looked like a write-off. |

I know you wish to have that in the hypercar category, but LMP2 is a spec car, the hypercar category is not. much harder or impossible to achieve equal balance.

LMP2 will remain at the 24 Hours of Le Mans for a few years extra though? |

super race ..
regarding the Caddy .. I seem to remember Bourdais saying their car is not in Europe, not sure about the context, hope he wasn't talking about the IMSA car LMP2s should not be axed for next year, think they deserve at least one more |

The races could feel quite different next year with a large Hypercar field and a big performance gap to GT3. Those Bronze GT drivers better keep their eyes on their mirrors because I don't think the prototype drivers will be taking any prisoners.

Thanks. I've clearly not been doing my homework the past few seasons. Good to catch-up in these exciting times for the series.
That's the best Spa WEC race I've seen in quite a few years and a tasty appetizer for the big one coming up. Toyota are massive favourites now but it doesn't dampen my enthusiasm. The grid as a whole just gives such good racing that it's going to be brilliant regardless whether or not Toyota walk it at the front. |

It was reported that Ganassi & Action Express will use entirely new cars for their participations in Spa & Le Mans this year because it was decided it is easier for them to build a new car using the FIA spec electronic systems than to change the IMSA cars to the FIA wiring. So yes, the yellow Cadillac that crashed today and the #311 Whelen Cadillac that you will see at Le Mans are not the cars these teams use to compete in IMSA. |

Of the LMP2 teams competing this year, Prema (Lamborghini), WRT (BMW), Alpine (Alpine) and Vector Sport (Isotta Fraschini) will be stepping up to Hypercar next year. That leaves 3 cars in LMP2 (Inter Europol, 2x United Autosports).

It will be perfect for the lead up to and for use in the next races… |

I didn't catch this on the broadcast but a JOTA mechanic was clipped in the pits. Speedy recovery.

I’ve just seen the JOTA go off at Raidillon and the front end go up. How did that not flip. Phew!

Especially at Le Mans. Thank you. Edit: BoP discussion in a BoP thread. Fill your boots. We’ll stick to the current race in the race threads. Danke. Last edited by Adam43; 30 Apr 2023 at 00:14. |

According Endurance-Info you were right about the #2 https://www.endurance-info.com/auto/...rari-en-gte-am It is in French but "Choix des pneumatiques" means tire choice. And "pluie" is the French word for rain. But the pitstop data I got that from the timing. They can not have gone for 34 laps on rain tires, right? So in the end it was not rain tires or most likely the data from pitstops is wrong? |

The #2 caddy stopped on lap 9 and lap 34. Then 61, 85, 112 and finally on 130.
#2 was doing really well from the go, but then had to stop for the obvious. I’m still impressed with the drivability of that Caddy. Really looked like they could hustle it. And I guess that helped getting the new tires up to temperature after the stops. |

I have the feeling that the Ferraris were there to win today,
They lost almost 2 laps in the first Safety car, when they were in the indicated strategy at that moment. In the last hour the Ferrari 51 was the fastest of all the time and the Ferrari 50 was faster than the 51. I just wonder what would have happened if a Safety Car left with 15 or 10 minutes to go. Would it have been Ferrari's first win? |

I agree they were looking good. They need to warm their tires quicker - I think that might have hampered them irrespective of all the other stuff that you say.
The Caddy needs more pace. I bet that’s the most fun to drive. Porsche needs pace too, but they seem to be there on managing a race. Which reminds me, need to do the power rankings… |

I think yesterdays Ferrari crash typifies my issue with Eurosport coverage. You have one of the leading cars crashing out of the race and Eurosport are showing some fluff piece to camera about the weather report. Granted they couldn’t have predicted the Ferrari was going to crash at that moment but when it did they should have scrubbed that great bit of journalism and cut back to the main feed, not have the action play out in silence via the split screen.
