Shell Eco Marathon

Many, many thanks to the team @ Rockingham yesterday & today. We may have been small in number, but by eck did we work well.
Pete Harding was the mastermind as ever, ably backed by my Wife Elaine, Andrew Palmer, Jack Jones, Bill Wilkes, Richard Sneader & Darren Trout a bunch of superstars.
The winning car did well over 9000 mpg which makes my Volvo look a bit sick

No, it has a measured amount of Shell fuel at the start, it has to do 7 laps of the Rockingham Oval in under 40 minutes, then the fuel is measured again, then the calculator comes out and the mpg is worked out.

Spotted a reasonable bit of coverage on the local TV news on Wednesday evening - quite encouraging to the competitors and did have a lot of oranges in some shots on the start line.

Presumably none of them wrecked the Armco with high speed mishaps

Hi Dave,
Thanks for that myself and Darren enjoyed the Eco as always. We managed 18 laps of the oval yesterday in 8 hrs have we won yet. From our point on the recovery wagon it seems the machines are getting more reliable and the speeds increasing. Fo those who have not been to this event it is worth doing it. Hard work but good fun and the engineering from the schools is really good to see. Even I tried to put the chain back on number 57 for it to go 4ft then break down again.
See you next year and throughout the season.
Glad we found Jack in the end.
Rich.

Nah mate, Shell Eco is completely different to a Race Meeting - people are nice to each other!!
Seriously though, Shell Eco is for the kids and a bloomin good cause.
