Button wont get back into Williams

Berger insists that Button has to beat teammate

Jenson Button has expressed his desire numerous times to return to the Williams team when his two-year loan contract with the Benetton team runs out at the end of the 2002 season.

BMW motorsport director Gerhard Berger said on Saturday that there is no point in discussing the Montoya/Button situation at present, because the decision will not have to taken for another year.

The Sunday Mirror quoted him: "But Jenson has to beat Fisichella first. You are always judged against your teammate. If Jenson can't go quicker than Fisichella then maybe we should be thinking about signing Fisichella. I don't know what's happening at Benetton with the equipment but Jenson knows eventually he has to produce results. He has a talent and did very well last season. Normally a driver finds it tough in his first year, but Jenson is finding it tough in his second."
Its not looking good at all for Jenson. But Berger has a good point, if he can't beat Fisi, how will he go against the 're-born' Ralf?

Run Free should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid

The fact is that Briatore's team has always been a one-car team.
And it's clear that, being Fisichella a Flavio's man, and being hinm Italian, and having been him in Benetton for a few years, is he that has the better car.
Pretending Button beating Fisico is a little bit unfair in this conditions.... As well as I suspect that, having been Button able to easily match Ralf's pace, he will not return to Williams any more until Ralf is still there.

But Ralf keeps getting faster - he is faster now than he has ever been. And Montoya is faster than Button...Ralf is faster than Montoya...therefore Ralf is faster than Button.

I agree with Wrex - Button will have to prove he can beat Fisichella before anyone even begins to consider him beating Ralf. But if the rumours are true and Button goes to another team in 2002 he might not have the chance to prove that he's good enough.

And if JPM is up to scratch this time next year then it won't surprise me if it's Ralf-Montoya at least until the end of 2003.
