I volunteered, but no tickets yet. I assume that they will turn up soon, in which case I'm in

I've not volunteered for anything in May/June/July as I'll be working in Melbourne (that's the one in Australia, not any of the ones in the UK). I was hoping to see some V8 Touring Cars while I was there, but they're in Tasmania, Darwin and Townsville the months I'll likely be there.

I hope you don't enjoy the V8 Supercars too much(I'm sooo jealous) Would love to get to see Bathurst one year with the V8 Supercars!

I applied via paper, but my details are now all in the online system, and I assume that would be the same for everyone. As above, I have nothing yet.

Well, there's good news and there's bad news...

Good News:
I'll be able to do this event now (and a couple of others)

Bad News:
The start to my job in Melbourne has been delayed, which means no money for another 4 weeks

Not got mine yet, but then I only sent the vol form off to Dave Cleavland last week.
This event (if not the actual date) will be my 1st anniversary at Oulton, as the sunday of the BTCC w/end was my first ever visit (marshalling or otherwise) to the track

Wandering around the pits in the early 7AM mist amongst the teams setting up was a fantastic experience - made even better later on when things were in full swing.
I remember getting baked in nigh on 30 deg sun all day, and grabbing the odd few mins in the shade from the armco between races towards the end of the afternoon..! (and my cars clutch cable snapping on the friday evening before it - DON'T want a repeat of that as it took a week to get a replacement..)

Right, tickets/instructions have arrived

A question: The instructions say that "marshal's (sic) camping is now the 40-acre field, further round the outfield (from parking and sign on at Deer Leap), almost opposite the first corner." - Before I start asking the busy people, can anybody here tell me if this the same as last year? I'm sure that wasn't anything like 40 acres. I had a quick look on google maps, and couldn't pick out anything obvious myself.

Thanks

Hi Guinness2702
The field in question is the one behind Old Hall and opposite Avenue Box.

On the MSV map it is dedicated as 'Family Camping'.

One advantage being there is it is well away from the rowdies who usually upset everyone when camped near Bailey Bridge.

Ahh, right, thanks. I did wonder about that, but I thought that was spectator camping and parking there. Does that mean we're mixed in with spectators this year, or are they elsewhere?

Tasmania's not too far from Melbourne, and you'll kick yourself if you don't. Short flight or a hop on a boat and you're there.[/off topic]

If you are arriving that late I expect they may put you in General Population, Wont be too rowdy on Friday night but just ask any of the locals, on Saturday morning at signing on, where the Marshals campsite is and they will point you in the right direction behind Old Hall corner. (1st corner from start line if you google earth it)

We will be arguin if they stick us in general population then... cause we aint putting the tent up twice and we aint sleeping in the car.

Had that prob at Snetterton the guy soon changed his mind.
