NASCAR Sprint Cup round 23 - Michigan
Four races left to the Chase now and we head to Michigan this weekend.
Here are the Chase contenders after The Glen. Tony Stewart (756 points ahead of 13th) Jimmie Johnson (494 points ahead of 13th) Jeff Gordon (414 points ahead of 13th) Kurt Busch (275 points ahead of 13th) Denny Hamlin (220 points ahead of 13th) Carl Edwards (203 points ahead of 13th) Juan Pablo Montoya (154 points ahead of 13th) Kasey Kahne (127 points ahead of 13th) Ryan Newman (100 points ahead of 13th) Greg Biffle (91 points ahead of 13th) Mark Martin (89 points ahead of 13th) Matt Kenseth (58 points ahead of 13th) ___________________________________________________ Kyle Busch (58 points out of 12th) Brian Vickers (96 points out of 12th) Clint Bowyer (99 points out of 12th) David Reutimann (155 points out of 12th) Well Tony Stewart confirmed his place last week (provided he starts at least one of the next four) so well done to him and Hen...I mean Stewart Haas. Probably should get Jeff and Jimmie in there next week. Whilst those behind Kurt Busch are less comfy given a worst case scenario of a 161 point swing, notably early season victor Matt Kenseth, teammate Biffle and, incredibly, Mark Martin is back under pressure. Even so, the likes of Kyle Busch, Brian Vickers and Clint Bowyer probably can't afford another bad race. Reutimann, menwhile, probably needs quite a slice of luck. JPM not doing too bad points wise, in the end Kyle Busch, Martin and Biffle ending behind him.
Vickers took a big bite though. Could have been worse as that was not a good day at all. Well done 83! Bet Shrub will be pleased. |

Toyota wins at Michigan.
Poor JJ, was it only him and MM who suffered with the fuel? |

Looks like it, although Kyle Busch inexplicably dropped like a stone over the final laps, dunno if he had to save fuel.
But Martin and Jimmie lost out big time. Doesn't matter for JJ, he just wants to gamble on wins for his Chase seeding, but Mark Martin is in points trouble. Suddenly Kurt Busch is not totally secure as well. |

Great win for Red Bull & Vickers - he was fast all weekend, so congrats to them... Dont care about the badluck that JJ & MM had with there fuel problems - there was 4 Hendricks cars running in the top 6 or something which is bs for the series...
Ambrose, was a lap down - was he involved in an incident or just slow today? Points battle for P12 is still well & truly alive... Sprint Cup Points - 3 to go til the chase... Tony Stewart - 3500 Jeff Gordon - 3216 Jimmie Johnson - 3197 Carl Edwards - 2995 Denny Hamlin - 2986 Kurt Busch - 2957 Juan Montoya - 2887 Kasey Kahne - 2884 Ryan Newman - 2845 Greg Biffle - 2821 Matt Kenseth - 2811 Mark Martin - 2791 ------------------ Brian Vickers - 2779 Clint Bowyer - 2733 Kyle Busch - 2721 David Reutimann - 2673 |

What will NASCAR do if two drivers with a combined seven wins for the year miss the Chase? Kyle Busch is officially in freefall mode, and Mark Martin now finds himself on the precipice after running out of fuel this weekend.

^ A few others are in the same boat. The system is flawed if like 5 guys winless this season make it, while ones that have miss out.
