Formula Renault BARC - budget
Might be setting up a team for the BARC F.Renault championship.
How much is a normal budget for it? |

Under normal circumstances, with a decent driver, you could win the title with a budget of £70k.
However rumour has it that the F Renault superteams are descending next season, which could push budgets upwards. |

I guess they'll be looking for somewhere to run their current cars, once the new one comes in for FRUK.
I ran a car for my son in BARC FR, '06 and part of '07. Best place 3rd at BH. Our budget was £15K but we had the use of a truck and it's diesel was paid for. No paid engineers, but we were lucky to have friends with F3 and A1GP experience along. Biggest problem for a small 'privateer' team is set-up infomation, the larger, established teams have so much more experience. |

What is wrong in Fortec or CRS trying to obtain value from their existing cars? I know that Fortec will be using the series to develop young engineers and mechanics as well as drivers so all involved will benefit/

Costs are going to go up with them coming in but in the end it has it benfits. Having to big teams like that enter makes the championship more attractive for drivers and in the end will make it more competitive overall and become a recognised entry category and an alternative to UKFF and TOCA renault.
Fortec and CRS wil probably charge 100k but id imagine they will include a lot of testing and tyres into the budget as they will want to win the title. |

How can the budget be 100K if they only do 12 or 13 races in what isn't a nationally sanctioned championship? With FPA, you get 20 races for just over 60K.

In FPA you dont get testing unless you pay more was well. If you had 20 tests in an FPA car then you would pay over £100k and I know I would prefer to race a Renault with Fortec in a carbon sequential car rather than a 10 year old FPA car. |

With Fortec and CRS entering, there aren't going to be any privateer champions like Hywel Lloyd are there? Mind you Scorpio have dominated for the past two seasons and they are from the UK series. No chance for guys on a smaller budget now I guess. The BARC championship has pretty much taken over as the feeder series for Toca FR and BF3 since the demise of FBMW.

That makes sense doesn't it? Fact is, it's just a differently priced FRUK, with less rounds and light years away from what it was or arguably should be. And anyone who would pay £100K for a season in BARC FR must, literally, have more money than sense. |

Well we've done the math and it seems that it could actually be more economically viable to start a team for the Toca Championship, with the new car.
If any drivers surfing around don't hesitate to contact me for a budget quote...! Budget should be lower then the big teams...service the same! Very experienced engineers working for the team. Or e-mail me: jpscorreia@gmail.com |

I'm interested to find out how a new team, that's not in place yet, can provide the same level of experience and service that a well established team like Fortec or CRS can offer.
Do they have years of experience working with the cars and drivers at this level? |

Will experience in A1GP as a Race Engineer do for you?
Besides a couple more Engineers coming from A1 and 1 Vehicle Dynamics and mechanics ex-F1! |

We were nowhere near the experienced FR teams. I say nowhere near. We were generally abot 6/8 tenths away, 2/10 at brands when we managed our only podium, though we were probably 15-20KG heavier than some of the very young prospects coming to learn with the teams. Go for it but you will need to learn about FR. You may be just as well off in TOCA, if you can raise the budget because, with a new car, at least you won't be years behind in data. What do you reckon your budget per car will be? |

Well I besides the A1 experience I have worked in F.Renault a couple years ago.
Budget should be around £160k per car. |

You dont need flashy motorhomes and other fancy crap, I fear that costs for Barc FR will go beyond 100k, ultimately it will kill the series. In the current climate, people are cutting costs not increasing them! Who cares if its Fortec, as you say, who ever pays 100K as more money than sense!

F2 isn't 200k anymore, but 160k does seem like silly money for a series so under the radar...

160k sounds about right for a team trying to win the the UK Formula Renault title. I thought the budgets were between 130-200k.
