Need advice from the people in the know!

Hey guys,

I've done some karting before and generally been fairly competitive. I've won most events i've been in but they've mainly been arrive/drive, but in fairness, some of the competitors have been people who kart more than leisurely.

I live in Essex and would love to go to Buckmore Park, as well as Rye House (which i've been to a number of times) and some other local ones.

I don't have my own kart, therefore would have to hire.

It's my 23rd coming up and I'm getting asked what I want for it, and this seems to be the best bet! Some form of mini league.

Any ideas guys? Thanks alot in advance

Selby

If you want a go in 2-strokes, Club100 have an Open Endurance on the 29th at Rye. Think they have a few team slots left so you could give that a whirl (3 people in a team ideally). PM me if you would like the organisers contact info.

Alternativley, im sure Buckmore run loads of different events throughout the week/weekend.

yes...I find Buckmore to have a good selection of events for all abilities (they base it on a Star system) and there are loads of events left this year if you want to check them out

Cheers mate. I did read the opening section of that thread and I just didn't think it was really what I was after - but in fairness it goes more into it half way down

I'm happy to say it looks asthough i'll be entering the Kovkartsport Championship next year Be it the mini Winter league, or the full blown championship!

Absolutely cannot wait to get out there and mix it up. And it's with big thanks to you guys, so cheers!

Ooopsy!

I'm going for the full blown championship, I THINK. What class i'll be in, i'm not so sure. I need to have a proper browse at the website, but all my Birthday/Christmas presents will be money towards this, so either way, i'm in.

Very excited, indeed!

Only trouble is, I don't drive :P So it's going to be alot of trains/hotels, me thinks!

The class depends what weight you are. I'm 75kgs so am in lightwight plus.

Ahh thats a slight problem with the driving....will take alot of commitment for that and I praise you already for it.

It'll get me out of the house, that's my philosophy

I used to travel the country alot when I used to wrestle (Wales, Newcastle, Bristol, Scarborough, Norfolk, Norwich, Peterborough etc) but this was a few years back now. It'd be nice to get about a bit!

I'm 99% sure i'll be in the lightest class! I'm about 9 stone and 5'5 ft!

Can I just confirm how the sessions are split again please, mate?

Is it practise followed by 3 sprint races?

That's for the summer series. Due to darkness and making sure we're finished a bit earlier in the cold, there is a different format for the winter series. There will be 10min practise/qualifying and then times will be used to create the grid for the first 10min race. Then the grid will be reversed for the second 10min race. So basically 30 mins on track spread through the day.

Sounds good to me, 10 minutes should be enough to get a feel for the karts and the circuit without breaking my arms too much

Yeh my main worry was my back. Last race I did was a 1 hour enduro at Rye House, and my back gave out half way through. Needless to say that was one of the longest half hours of my life. Still, got 3rd out of 17

What speeds do these karts do roughly?

Thanks for the great day to whomever was there! Met some quality people and must say I applaud the runners of the championship - was incredibly smooth and a great deal of fun.

Winning wern't too bad, either...

Thanks Dan, Sorry I did not get to personally meet you on sunday but was trying to help Donna and my girlfriend, Sara, organise the 44 lightweight drivers. I think I saw you win a race (or finish 2nd) as well so well done for doing that on your debut.

The day ran well and also sorry I did not introduce myself to Luke (Fox89) and hope to see you all in 2 and a half weeks at Priory
