Pizzonia

A friend of mine heard on the GP commentry today, that the winner of the F3000 race (Pizzonia) overtook under yellows. Did anybody else hear this? I can't find anything about it anywhere... don't know if he would get any kind of penalty for it?? I guess not, as he escaped jumping the second chicane, which gave him a run on Wilson and allowed him to take the lead on the following straight.

haven't heard or read anything about it, no... where would the yellows have been?

Maybe your friend was refering to the brazilian GP. There Pizzonia was leading and was said to be overtaking under yellow. He served a Stop-&-go penalty and lost the race...

Pizzonia wasn't the only one who got away with jumping a chicane, but although he didn't directly gain a place from it, some would say straightlining allowed him to carry more speed onto the straight, which allowed him to pass Wilson (which he did with ease) and take the lead.

Not to take anything away from him, he was the quickest out there, and would most likely have got past sooner or later. It's all good for the championship anyway. This season has produced some great driving and exciting races, lets hope the F1 bosses are really paying attention this year!!
