NASCAR Cup Round 12: Coca Cola 600, Charlotte Motor Speedway
Not to be confused with Lowe's MS and the WORLD 600, of course.
Memorial Day weekend has brought us that open wheel race from the mid west and the longest stockcar race of the year on the same day. An endurance event for any race fan and sometimes, add the Monaco GP to get the greatest single day in motor racing, IMHO. Jayski Track opens for the Cup teams tomorrow with practice and q'ing set for that afternoon and evening, respectively. Not sure why, but on Friday, there is no track activity whatsoever. Storms are possible before the weekend but Sunday is looking sunny and warm. Green Flag set for approximately Sunday at 615EST. Always a great event...let's hope for a little better show at Charlotte than during the AllStar bore. |

Between Kimi and Kyle, I think we forgot a race is going to be run....
FULL LINEUP Brad K is on the pole with AJ Allmendinger outside. Great start for the dinger and the 43 team! Also great quali for Ricky Stenhouse Jr in the Wood Brothers 21; starting in the 9th position. They had some good practice speeds too. Andy Lally, TJ Bell, Scott Wimmer, Tony Raines and Scott Riggs DNQ. |

I hope this race, and the others on Sunday, are epic.
I am going off grid for the weekend, so enjoy the races. |

wow its been a day of last lap finishes.
though it felt like NASCAR tried to engineer a win for jr. there by not throwing a caution after the restart. |

Now don't get me wrong I rather they let them go more often but they need to be consistent.... Good run by Ambrose up the front most of the night, shame he got off sync with 60 laps to go and had to pit early.. |

fixed a tyre vibration though, could have been worse if he didn't pit. But imagine if he didn't have to, where would he have been at the end? Prob the same type of fuel mileage as Kenseth though...

No sympathy for Jnr, he sais himself they would have stolen it plus he wasnt the only one to run out of fuel...
Another good drive by Mr Ambrose - think he has the hang of this NASCAR now |

1st time in his NASCAR career that Ambrose has 2 top 6 (top 10) finishes in a row!!!
Outside chance for the chase - no reason he cant win both road course races this year. RPM are doing well after there off-season drama's... |

I made it through the race until the last 30 minutes and passed out dammit. That was a long day... I don't think I missed too much though.

It's a shame because he's not a bad lad that deserves not a win but a fair result with his upswing in form but all they do is make a complete ass of him when they tried that. Good to see the Petty cars in the hunt. Last edited by Paradise City; 31 May 2011 at 23:03. |
