CSCC Snetterton, 22/23 Oct 2011, A 'must see' for lovers or racers of old V8 cars!
A date for the diary of anyone who loves watching or racing old V8 race cars and also wants to support Help the Heros! Sunday October 23rd 2011 Snetterton 200 race circuit with full supporting program from the Classic Sports Car Club. I have entered a Camaro and thus far are 6 Camaros, 5 Corvettes, 3 Aston V8's 3 Mustangs and a TR8 and its hoped to get a 32 car grid assembled.
(Not for you Mr. Zefarelly I know how much you hate em!) |

Being there to shoot for the CSCC as usual - I will make sure that we cover as much as possible for you all.
REALLY can't wait for this one, just something about a V8 being used 'in anger' that gets the pulse going .DAVID. |

Well I will see closer to the time Cliff as I have almost finished the install of the new diff and stronger shafts etc in the IROC-Z but may take the old beast as it may be more in keeping with the historic bit. Need to put the TransAm anti roll bars back though as i swear the thing nearly tipped over at Thruxton! BTW Cliff dunno if you are interested but the CTCRC race at Cadwell on the 3rd of Sept is to now include a 40 minute race at the end of the day for a very very reasonable price, this will include a pitstop, a driver change if you want or a car change. Thought it may suit you and Dan.

We will be there in both races FC and V8 race, this should become a really popular series and boy I do hope so.
I recon this season has seen the lowest grids ever across the historic race scene apart from some of the more celebrity meets. Good on yer Bernie (and I dont mean Ecclestone). |

Yeah sorry Andy I must admit I read that back and it wasnt right but couldnt change it because of the edit time limit. Any mod can change it they want I won't be offended.
I think the simple rules as far as Bernie has told me or how I interpretated it are basically similar to CSCC Future classics no space frames, cars must be fitted with the V8 engine type they came with and must be genuine OEM engine type for the chassis and no V8 Escorts etc. but I understand a Mk1 V8 Ford engined Capri AKA South African Perana OK, treaded tyres, no late model cars like ex-Aussie V8 tourers and he is basically open to feedback and comment and he will confirm if car OK when entered. Will be great to see you out there Rikki I know I wont beat you in my old tub but it will be nice to line up on the same grid as the Aston. |

Ok Andy thats fine then.
Here is an update from Bernie of the paid up entries so far: 7 Camaros 3 V8 Aston Martins 6 Corvettes 4 Mustangs 1 TVR 2 Sunbeam Tigers 1 Pontiac TransAm 1 FIA Cobra Think Automotive and some other companies have put up gift vouchers and Bob Pepper is putting up oil and him or someone else a new Crash Helmet with hopefully more stuff to follow these will be dished out as a free drivers raffle draw (one prize per driver only). I will post up full details of all companies helping out when I have them. BTW I asked about the regs basically as I said but no problems with different transmissions or added bits and pieces like bonnet scoops etc. Also was asked to point out this is not going to be a series just for pot hunters the emphasis is on having fun! All joking aside, it would be interesting to many, i suspect, to know what the age cut off is. Last edited by andy97; 25 Aug 2011 at 14:13. |

Well all I can say is that Bernie said he would prefer I bought my 70's car but would allow my early 80's car in but wouldnt want any newer than that. I think its a suck it and see thing and open for suggestions. Oh another thing I just remembered, no problems with dry sumping.

wow
I used to go & watch the HARA in the early 90's esp for the boss 302 clone & the green superbee. I remember they had a race @ donington & was also a mustang celebration show with one of the best collections of muscle cars id ever seen @ the time, including the yellow superbird & several pukka shelby's Also had HARA passenger rides around donington & I went out in a red mercury couger. Think that day the superbee went off down the craner curves & there was a husband & wife combo with 2 shelby clones & one of them had a big shunt next to clubbie circuit pit lane enterance Well done Bernie Al I guess my falcon wont be allowed in then ! |

I did actually ask Andy and unfortunately no he said it was too new. You could stick some 1b's on and go and kick ass in the sports vs saloons race on the same weekend though!

Speaking to Bernie at Mallory the other day he told me he had no FIA Falcons or FIA Mustangs which somewhat backs my point I've made on here many times that the owners/drivers of these cars have no interest in the actual cars, they just want to be at the pointy end of the grid.
Having said that I understand the grid for this race is filling nicely thanks to the genuine V8 enthusiasts out there. Think of all those yanks at the Silverstone Classic - not one has entered .... yet! Come on boys (girlies) stand up to the challenge BTW, we mustn't forget the idea behind this, no,not the racing, - its all to support the 'Help for Heroes'. I know Bernie is working hard to get some of these guys (& gals?) down to Snetterton on race day. |
