POLL: Best British Race Circuit
Hi Everyone
Out of interest I thought I would see who likes what circuit. And which is the best circuit for our sport. My choice is the Infamous Donington Park, I just love the close action racing through Craner Curves Simon |

Mallory Park for me. Almost criminally ignored by so many people but what is not to love about the UK`s mini-parabolica ( 2/3rds of a mile right hander!) fantastic viewing and the best breakfast in the UK!!!

My vote in for the best.
Not sure it is fair to include Goodwood as once a year pre 1966 only. If you had my least favourite it would go to Rockingham. Free tickets for life would not get me through the gate! |

This isn't going anywhere. Most are going to vote for their own local circuit.
What's "best' anyway? Longest, shortest, prettiest, fastest, ruggedist, best facilities, most loos, nicest people, easiest access, best event, best climate, "friendliest", best breakfast, most marshal-friendly, best owners, best post boxes, best flag points...

Cadwell Park. Obviously. Best circuit for drivers and marshals bar none. Until the recent "improvements" that is...........

My head says donington for the circuit although I Used to feel that all the money was being shook out my pockets when I arrived there
But my heart says Mallory great people good circuit and a nice ambience |

For me it's Silverstone, with Mallory a close second. But I've had a great welcome and worked with friendly people wherever I've gone.

In the UK. No doubt about it - Croft. Its a great scenic drive through Ribblesdale and Wensleydale to reach the circuit.

Best at what?
Mallory is my best circuit for being friendly at having fast laps. Donington is my best for viewing. Silverstone has best facilites and always strikes with awe every time I go. Rockingham is best at having confusing post numbers  If its for marshaling i always get a warm glow when I drive into Mallory,it just feels like a comfy pair of shoes. |

Poor Lydden hill, Missed off the poll. I've never had an luck there, even came second in a 2 car race one year but the breakfast is (or is that was?) to die for and a great circuit with proper names for things, you know that the only fast way down "Hairy Hill" is to put a testicle in each pocket.
The most success I had racing was at Knockhill, wonderful place, the closest I've come was at Croft, but the weather isn't a bundle of laughs. Castle Combe holds a special place in my heart but a big ratio of success to failure must rule it out. Being a Jim Russell graduate I should vote for Donington but my heart has been stolen by Brands Hatch, As a Marshal one cannot get more "intimate" with a circuit that from behind the barrier. |

To drive on, Brands GP....they don't use it nearly often enough. Oulton full circuit probably second.
Marshalling or even spectating I'm a big Mallory fan. Cadwell in a strong second place and I'm sure I'd spend more time there if it was only a bit nearer. Steve |

hmm difficult one
donington - cracking drivers circuit brands - amazing track cadwell - nothing like it anywhere else mallory - cracking club circuit ..my vote has to go to oulton though....lots of elevation changes, great corners, great atmousphere |

From the circuits I've been to its gotta be a vote for Cadwell - the atmosphere and the close clubby environment cant be beaten, tied with a technical and undulating circuit, certainly my favourite.

I'm going to say Snetterton as no-one's mentioned it yet! It's certainly the circuit (out of the ones I visit) that's done the most for marshals over the last few years & the new layout is great.
I must also mention Rockingham (yes, someone else does like it!!) as it's the circuit where I got back into motorsport after 15 years away. Plus the (very few) occasions when all the grandstands were packed, the atmosphere was great. Hands up who remembers the Rockingham Rumble?! I can't talk about circuits without mentioning Silverstone. The sense of history & sheer scale of the place gets me every time I drive through the gates. Plus it's where I started marshalling & still do most of my meetings. |

I'm a bit of an interloper (driver not a marshal) but, for pure, unadulterated fun it has to be Thruxton. The facilities leave a lot to be desired, but the run from the Complex to the Club chicane always puts a smile on my face.

Since this is the marshals section I'm going to look at it purely from an 'at which to marshal' point of view.
On that basis the one that seems to provide the most marshalling enjoyment for me would be Mallory. However, I don't like flagging there, so for that discipline it's pretty much a draw between Oulton and Silverstone, the latter because I like endurance stuff and that's where it tends to happen. |

just to correct my post before anyone else does, 1/3 mile right hander not 2/3!!! brain fade!
Also a second place for me would be rockingham. The Rockingham Rumble was something special! |
