Rudolf,
I will be there with the Chev Camaro in Historic Road Sports, hoping to have a tussle with Adam Simmonds in his Boss Mustang. The HRS turn out is 25 cars, quite a good entry for a wet, windy, cold Silverstone ! Nick |

I'm going with the E-type, in with a chance of the class championship but only if I can win the class at this event, otherwise 2nd guaranteed if my maths is right.
I expect this will be my last race in the E as I fancy a change for next year, so it will be up for sale. It's been a lot of fun though |

Sadly(or happily depending on which side your bread's buttered) I will be unable to compete either in HSCC or hrdc finals ( the latter on the Sunday) as one is my wedding anniversary and the other my nieces 18...despite my best efforts neither party was willing to host a celebration in or close to either venue...

Didn't you have a 50% say in one of the events?

Clearly I should have read the small print on this marriage business as I obviously own a class of share with no voting rights

That said I'm not altogether convinced that a niece's 18th would require an entire day out. (If I have a neice of appropriate age I certainly cannot remember any celebration attendance demand.) A 21st, well, just maybe. Possibly. It's this expectation of capitulation in the middle ground that I find most disconcerting. |

Yup, the circuit was slippery for Practise.. the earlier the slot the worse it was ... and Historic Road Sports was on 2nd on the card.
The other side of the coin is that the traction and stability of the Chev Camaro in the wet continues to surprise me ... and got me 7th on the grid, my best ever grid placing in 20+ years racing. I never thought I would pray for a wet track ... but rain was over by 1200 hrs, and dry by the time HRS went out at c. 1330. So all the Elans steamed past me and I finished 12th. Had it been wet, would have been a different story ! End of Season and the Competitors Championship meetings held today tended to focus on how to get new people on to the grid. So let me plug Historic Road Sports for pre 1970 sports cars ... close racing, good driving standards, good standard of rules, and a friendly, helpful bunch of club racers in the old style. Nick |

Thankfully the forecast was wrong and the rain stopped before noon.
Some nicely mixed up grids as a result of the wet qualifying. Excellent races throughout the afternoon with better entry numbers than at most rounds this season. The historic FF race was a belter. A fine way to end my circuit racing year. |

Agree the Formula Ford was an epic encounter and the 70,s Road Sports was insane with both Peter Shaw and Oliver Ford going off track in their quest for the championship! |

I'll post a few shots as I work through them. Most are from the races, with a few late qualifying ones later on. All taken from Luffield, hence the lack of variety.

Well, what a race! The grid was well out of sequence due to the wet practice and although I was alongside the car I needed to beat, Nik Spencer in the ex-Tandy E-type, he was 3.5 secs quicker than me. I thought I was beginning to get the hang of this rainy lark but apparently not!
Dry race and we both made a few places made on the start, but as we entered Wellington for the first time it was obvious he had a lot more straight line speed so I had to rely on some very late braking. Managed to get in front at Copse on lap 2 and just about held him off for the rest of the race, although he managed to get alongside a couple of times. Never more than half a sec between us and only a tenth at the line. Very close and clean the whole way through and a great end to the year. Now undecided about whether to sell the car as there's talk of a new series next year for pre-63 Jags, run by HSCC. Anyone know more? |
