David Stokes.
I knew that David was ill, but it still came as a massive shock when I heard this morning that he had died. Although I haven't seen him for over a decade, I was on the scene when I started rally navigating, and he started driving. We were both members of the Dursley MC&LCC, and entered, with Robin Pettigrew as my driver, as Team Dursley in the Motoring News Rally Championships. Since I called it a day in 1974, David went on to greater things and became the man to beat in historic rallying in his venerable Ford Escort, and went on to win many championships. He was a quality rally driver and a great guy to be with. I, along with loads of friends from the rallying fraternity will miss him dearly. R.I.P. David.
Sadly his death comes only a few months after that of Bill Andrews, another Dursley MC&LCC stalwart.
