Senna v's Schumacher
As I mentioned in the Verstappen thread I wonder what the Senna and Shumacher battle would have been like if their careers had paralleled each other. They were both hard headed and win at any cost drivers so there might have been some real fireworks I think.

Well Brundle always maintained that Senna would retire as soon as he felt the decline start to happen. Wouldn’t have put it past him.
Senna still was on the top of his game in a Williams that was horrible to drive. To get it on pole for the first 3 races of 94 was something, especially as he always felt Schumi’s Benetton was illegal. It’s always interesting. Would there have been more incidents than Senna had with Prost? Probably. Schumi was a lot more stubborn than the professor. Certainly 94 could have been very interesting once the Williams was sorted. And I don’t think Senna would have made as many mistakes as Hill did in 95. Schumi would have found it a lot tougher and all for the good of the sport Senna would have probably have equaled Fangio’s record before retiring. Also his final wish would have been to drive for Ferrari |

Senna would have won more championships. Maybe not 1994, but something like three more.Schumacher would have started winning more. Perhaps still at Ferrari depending on where Senna went. Senna would have retired.
Hakkinen may well have still got a championship or two. Hill and Villeneuve probably not. The cars would have been very different. Overall F1 wouldn’t be as popular. |

I am more interested in the clashes that would have happened on track between two drivers who were reckoned to do anything to get a win. Would it have been good for the sport or was it good that a bigger overlap did not occur.

Damon only got close because of the FIA interfering and wanting it close.

He got close because of all the events that happened. Was it a conspiracy? In my experience they mainly just to help people think they are clever.

The FW16 was night and day better by mid season but Senna would have needed Sch not scoring in a couple of rounds to reel in the 20 pt deficit prior to Imola. I think the gap would have grown by amother 3 points had they both finished in San Marino. |
