Does Davidson have an F1 deal?

That arrogant little twit Anthony Davidson keeps mentioning F1 testing does he have a confirmed deal with BAR for 2002?

Previously he ditched F3 to 'concentrate'on F1. But now interestingly he mentions doing 'some' F3 races and maybe F3000.....

As his F1 testing experience stands at chucking it off the road and his Macau 2001 result was er.....chucking it off the road.....do we take it that his (and his managers) ego have got ahead of themselves and he his now looking for something to do in 2002?

If ever a driver was overhyped its him...IMHO.

Ant will be doing approx 30 days testing for BAR plus attending all the grand prix, as reserve driver.

Driving in some non clashing F3 and F3000 events seems a sensible option. Good results in the major international F3 races would be impressive on anyones cv.

I've never found Ant to be arrogent in all the times I have spoken to him, obviously he has confidence in his own ability, but almost all top sportsmen do.

That all seems a bit harsh on Ant. He had a much better rookie season in F3 than Button, and is quite right to be thinking about doing a few extra races next year. Otherwise you end up something like Jan Magnussen.

What did he do (apart from getting dumped by Stewart and going into sportscars?)

"Driving in some non clashing F3 and F3000 events seems a sensible option. "

As the International F3000 series runs as a support to the Grand Prixs, by definition all the races clash with F1. SO I'll generously assume you mean some non-clashing EURO F3000 races.

Jan Magnussen dominated F3 in 1994 (something like 14 wins), was touted as the next big thing, but two years with not much racing in before he got to F1 'full' time blunted his racing edge, so to speak.
