Swift to supply chassis to CART (still to be confirmed)
Word-of-mouth in Long Beach is that Swift is going to supply chassis to CART next season.
Swift would supply chassis for up to eight entries, six being the most likely number though. Team Kool Green would be a semi-works effort. My source also said that Dallara was contacted by CART but the Italian manufacturer was obliged to decline because of certain clauses with the IRL contract (that would forbid Dallara to supply chassis to CART). CART is also talking to Dome and Riley & Scott. Cheers, Muzza |

Looks like CART's having a bit of a revival. The more chassis and engine manufacturers the better!

Same as what I said in the MG thread, but CART looks far from dying doesn't it!! Hopefully the Swift will be an all-round better car than the last effort, which to be honest, was fairly poor.
With Reynard closing its doors (and probably pulling out of CART late) someone needs to come in as a competitors to Lola, as we don't want the series to be a one-make series. It's a pity Dallara can't come to CART too (more Tony George meddling there ) because they do construct neat, little chassis. Last edited by f1manoz; 14 Apr 2002 at 04:54. |
