Alfa 147 to missThruxton

According to motorsport news, Gordon Shedden will not make his BTCC debut at Thruxton as the car is still not ready.

He hope's to be out at Silverstone on June 2nd/3rd.

Could this be another TSMR event where they always said the second car would be ready for the next race but never came? I hope this does make it to the grid because the Alfa 147 is a great looking car.
I hope we see a lexus on the grid soon but it doesn't seem likely

The Alfa 147 isn't registered for the championship yet.

I was excited at the prospect of seeing the return of the Alfa. But my stance now is, I'll believe it when I see it

caution is the best approach when it comes to touring cars

If only Toyota or Lexus GB would give the team some support then maybe the TMSR cars would get out. Why don't Alfa GB hlep GR, they're giving backing to Tom Ferrier?

Sadly I think a lot of it is to do with the way the teams ran their campaign's and their approach.

The proven way NOT to get any manufacturer support is to build a car off your own back and then tap on the car makers door for support. GA & JSM have both tried in vain to get Alfa support, the same with TMSR and Lexus.

If these car makers want to do the BTCC they will do it Proton or MG style not in some sort of semi-works effort.

Alfa also made it clear from the start that they wouldn't support a 147 racer and would prefer if it didn't race at all, as the 'sporting model' was the 156.

I think Alfa have supported Tom:

1. He fits the image they are looking for.
2. It's a 156 the car they want to promote
3. It's a Dart (JAS) run car which is guaranteed to be competitive.
4. Enable's Alfa UK to entertain their guest's at the British round's via supporting a British driver.

wow. they're gonna struggle to fit all the cars on the grid soon. Could anyone see the races being split, so production are seperate? They're gonna have to start painting extra lines on the track soon!

I don't think that there'll ever be too many cars starting, it seems that there's always a team out there with a technical problem or a cash crisis preventing them from making the grid.
