Noahs Ark up at the front!
good to see Sato ahead of Fisi, just hope that Jordan don't ask him to pull over to let Fisi through! |

Typical, Schumacher has problems in qualifying, but I bet that come the race he will just storm off into the distance for another win. Please can we have a TGF retirement, he hasn't retired since Germany last July for goodness sake !!!

Montoya the messiah, 3 in a row is brilliant. Hopefully this may bring him his 1st win of the year. Good luck to Aussie Mark Webber who out qualified Bernoldi in 20th

I laugh like a mad, when I saw the face of Ralf Schumacher after Juan Pablo took the pole for just 0.009s Hope tomorrow the Juan Pablo car be reliable, hope that the launch control be good, also hope that Michael do not hit him as he did in Malaysia, and finally hope that Juan Pablo get his first season victory!! Go Juan Pablo!!

Oh! I forgot one thing. Schumi's fan, do not say: "Michael did not take the pole because the problems in the main car". In his last run the p*g of Ferrari, was faster than Montoya in the second sector and would be able to take the pole, and this proves that the T-Car was perfect. He made to silly mistakes at the end. The first mistake was in the last chicane, and then he tried to recover some time, and push harder in the last corner, but so harder that finally he lost more time.

what accomplishment? And what "3 in a row" were you thinking of (definitelly not what I was suggesting? And why would that be impressive, even though Pablo does it?
PS: Pablito's fan, do you actually know the meaninig of the word "joke"? |

To try and talk about the qualifying. I thought it was a great session all down the grid, but especially up front. Any of those three could have done it. Very enjoyable.
Afterwards the top three were congratulating each other having little jokes and generally just chatting. Ralf and Montoya were having a bit of a look and discussion about the Ferrari and then Michael joined in! Great to see. It reminded me of parc ferme after a club meet. |

When I see the first four rows of the grid are in matched pairs, it suggests to me that this is very much a circuit where the car is perhaps more important than the driver.
Let's hope none of the top 3 have a blow up and we get to see a good clean, close race from lights to flag; or is that to much to ask in F1? Congrats to Webber for making the top 20 and to Yoong for making the cut. |

Nick Heidfeld is in a credible 9th after another top performance in the Sauber. Would have preferred to see him higher, but the Sauber has been off the pace the past few weekends. But again he shows clean heels to the supposed future WDC Massa
JPM once again was magic, but nine-hundredths isn't much at all, so I don't think anyone should be claiming this as a massive victory. But TGF stranded on the second row should be big news....... |

Going back to qualifying, great run by the 2 BMW Williams. Should be fun to see how they get off the line tomorrow. Would be great to see Ralf win at home - he`s got a great chance - he's supposed to be on the harder compound and just used 3 sets of tyres in qualifying which means he should have a new set available for the start if he wants it. But - on a more negative note - there may be rain tomorrow afternoon which could spoil the party for the Michelins. |

No, in F1 it's "He who wins is he who has the best contract and people on the radio to threaten the real winner into moving aside."
However, I wouldn't advise Ralf to be on the radio hollering for Team Orders tomorrow. He's likely to get "I'm sorry, the number you have dialed is not Ferrari. Please hang up and win the race." |

And that's why I like Williams as a team. Too bad their cars make better BBQs than race cars.

God is on pole position!!!! YES
The master of the hotlap, apart from Ayrton Senna of course. What about Villeneuve - good to see his $25million salary is motivating him to preform at his best. A second behind Panis...bloody hell, that's just not on. Shame Fisi is so far back though, but great to see Mark Webber of the front row. |

Welcome to the forum, jpmontoya_fan and Warrior21. jpmontoya_fan, as you may see from my posts, I'm also one. Of course setting pole is an accomplishment. It doesn't give any points, but it provides you the best possible starting-point for the race.
And those of us who saw the F3000 race today will have seen that this is a track which can provide excellent racing and a lot of overtaking. The track changes seem to favour that - a good thing. The new hairpin after the start/finish straight provided a lot of action in the F3000 race today - this could be an indication that we could be in for a very exciting race tomorrow. --- I'm not sure if 19th is JV's worst qualifying performance ever - it could well be. And that's the worst downer of the weekend. Last edited by R; 22 Jun 2002 at 22:57. |

Well, well, what do we have here? Where did the almighty motor that Honda was to introduce go? They said the cars were understeering badly. Hmmm, maybe the new motor weighs more and has thrown off the balance of the cars. Isnt this the worst qualifying all year for Honda.
It was nice to see JPM's 3rd straight pole. Now I hope he can bag one. |
