Speeddemon555 should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Production Touring Division in '03??

Since the Tourers is going to have more cars on the grid, BTCC is considering putting the production guys into their own series for the up and coming drivers next year.

yup TOCA will proberbly split the two next year because otherwise they won't get them all on the grid depending on the size of production. To Smaller Grid - not Worth racing with tourers, To Big - Can't race with tourers because of a full grid. Its a lose- lose situation.

Not very lose-lose. If they're split, there wont be problems with proddies holding up the tourers.

Also the ITV coverage wont have to juggle between the Tourers race and the Proddies.

Will ITV even cover the Production race though, if its a clearly second string race? Edenbridge and B&Q have clear plans to move up. I wouldn't be surprised if it gets a one-minute summation at best.

Thats true, I can't see it getting that much coverage. If possible, I would like to see them compete together. By spliting them, the Proddies are going to become what was the National Saloon Car Championship, and can't see it getting the entires of last year.

Dudley has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
ITV will give them no coverage, just like the BBC never bother with the world Supersport championship.

I've read on another forum the following

"The Administrator, Richard West, can announce today that the 2003 MSA British Touring Car Championship will consist of both BTC Touring and BTC Production classes.

Both these classes will run together in all races, qualifying and free practice sessions during the 2003 season, unless otherwise stated by official Championship Bulletin."

Why shouldn't there be?
ITV have at least another year left on their contract to show the Touring Cars, and I'd be very surprised if Ford and Renault didn't go for the same deal they had this year again - it got them more viewers than C4's British Rally or F3!

Of the Production class i think he means. With the BTC-P being very much the second class if the races are split there is the chance that ITV might just show the BTCT ot BTCT with a small section on BTCP or BTCP be in Motorsport Uk potentially months after the race.

Well if they're in the same race they can hardly be ignored altogether.

But we know that the production class aren't going to be split - they are in the same arace as the tourers.
