Schumi's crystal ball
OK I've gotten my calculator out.....
If TGF ends his career after 2006 these will be his stats if he continues at his current percentage. Races 242 (now 186) Wins 89 (now 68 @36.6%) Poles 70 (now 54 @29%) Amazing figures considering his percentage is a lot higher in recent years. Can he crack 100 wins? Unlikely as he would need to win 57% of his remaining races but who knows? Since 2000 he has won 56% of races. Mindboggling stuff! Last edited by Ralf; 18 Jun 2003 at 13:06. |

A sobering thought.
There are some very impressive figures there. |

I dont think so, but only because the Ferrari does'nt have the performance advantage it once had.

He will break Senna's record then. |

I always thought it impossible, but I agree that Scheuy will probably top Senna's record of pole positions.
I should also say, somewhat off-topic, that I've always believed it significant that whereas Senna had more poles than wins, Prost had more wins than poles. But that's a WHOLE other can of worms... |

You don't have to be the fastest driver to win races, but you do to get pole- that never changes. For the record, I believe MS would want 100 wins more than Senna's pole record but it will probably fall as well. |

Actually, I'd like to know where the record books stand on his pathetic punishment for the JV '97 incident. Remember that he was disqualified from that years championship as a result? Well surely that means he loses that years wins, poles and points as well?

I think he has just lost the points, not the poles and wins as far as the record books are concerned.
I do not know if the above stats include the points he scored in 1997. |

All he lost was the Championship position. He kept wins, points, pole positions and fastest laps.

Damon, The points he earned in 1997 are included in the 999 world championship pionts, so there is always the argument of whether they should be included in his records. The same goes for the wins and poles he got that year. He did earn them fair and square, but it is a pretty grey area. I thought it was a stupid punishment really...it didn't mean anything. Even though I'm a MS fan I think a 2 race ban would have been more suitable then there wouldn't be the argument of whether or not he gets to keep the results he got in that year.

Of course Michael's statistics are very impressive. There is a massive or arrays of records Michael has, let alone the bare basic ones.
This is because he is a very impressive driver. Many people refuse to accept it, but he is incredibly good. |

He has also been in the strongest car for a number of years now but he is one of the reasons Ferrari are so quick. Not only is he the fastest driver on the track, but his ability to work with the engineers to improve the car is on a level of its own.
