Yoong wants Minardi money!
Alex Yoong. Yeah, remember him?
Well he's owed around $200,000 from Paul Stoddart, and is threatening legal action. Typically whingeing, Stoddy claims he is owed money by sponsors and that Alex's wages depended on those sponsors. Mr '107%' denies these claims. But his father doesn't. I'm confused. Stoddart had this to say: "Alex is owed money under his driver's contract from last year, we're owed a rather larger amount of money under sponsorship from last year. "His driver's contract was directly linked to sponsorship and I've actually said to his father that if he can help us collect the outstanding sponsorship that I'll go 50-50 on what we get. "What he's asked us to do is to assign some of the rights for the collections to him and we're looking at it now. We may well do that." Bet the whiley old Aussie won't be buying Concorde now. (I thought Alex was a pay-driver!?!) |

Yeah I read that too. Alex said that on his website.
Two things funny about this. a) He's got the nerve to ask for money for his dismal performances and b) He has a website & people look at it! |

If Alex is entitled to that money then he should have it.
Anyway, I approve of anything that will give Paul Stoddart a good kicking. After all, he's the one who's always grabbing money; nice to see him parted with it from time-to-time. |

He probably just wanted to say something to make fun of the threadstarter! hehe.
Why doesnt Paul just remind Alex of the amount of money he lost the team on not qualifying, and damaging many PS02s!!! |

Alex wasn't a pay driver in the sense that he was paying for his ride from his family's fortune, but in the sense that he brought sponsors that would pay for his ride (and a big on in the Malaysian govt).
Actually, twig, though Yoong was slow he didn't damage many cars... Also, he did show a few brief sparks towards the end of the season. Definately not F1 material though. That said, if he was promised money, he should be payed it. |

Sometimes I wonder whether you guys actually read the statements and understand what they mean.
Alex Yoong was always a paid racing driver with Minardi. Paul Stoddart confirms this in the various pronouncements about the Yoong claim for payment. That Minardi is having difficulty getting money out of a number of sponsors is hardly Yoong's fault. Yoong believes he has a legal claim for the money, and should use the processes of the law to recover it. This situation is like lending your mate $100 and him not repaying it, so in spite, you decide not to pay the gas bill. Quite silly really. I thought the more pertinent comments were the threat from Paul Stoddart saying that there was no point suing Minardi as they were going broke after round 3 anyway..... |

Trying to decide who's right in this case is about as rewarding as deciding whose s**t smells better.

Stoddart should've paid Yoong on performance & that way by the end of the year Yoong would've owed Stoddart millions.

So if the contract was signed money should come not depending of his performance. |

But Stoddart says Yoong was'nt payed this money because the Malaisian sponsor had not payed Minardi in full, he's now going to court against 3 Malaisian companies for the remaining money.
