Vote Sam Hornish for driver of the year!

After this year, you know he deserves it. Pulling off amazing moves with a rubbish engine, pulling off even more amazing moves with a better one , even a terrific comeback in the latter part of the championship to be a contender in the last race.

Go Sam!!!

Link.

NASCAR drivers get three entries, how convenient.

And as of right now the three NASCAR guys are so far ahead it isn't even funny. Jeff Gordon leading Earnhardt Jr. What did those guys do in the last 3 months? Popularity contest.

Popularity contest? Yes.
And no.

The public ballot, "your vote", certainly is. Hence your observations about Gordon and Earnhardt Jr. But the award itself, not really.

Down FOrce's link explains exactly how the winner is determined, and in the overall-scheme-of-things, the fan ballot isn't worth a heckuva lot. (Otherwise daMatta would never have won in 02, nor John Force in 96, as some NASCAR guy would've).

Sam Hornish still stands as good a chance as anybody to win the award.
