Best looking Group C car ever?
For me it's a toss up between the original Peugeot 905 EV and Jaguar XJR-14 in the atmo world. And the Jaguar XJR-12 and Nissan R90C what's yours?

mine has to be either 905 too (andre de cortanze is a legend with toyota gt1-lm) or the joest new-man porsche 956/962.

I would go for the Porsche 956/962 - stunning, but I have to say the Jaguar's from the late 80's are also favourites of mine. Can't wait to see them at Le Mans again in June.

true, the group c car of jan lammers and andy wallace i think it was, (i dont know wehther it was an xjr8 or 9) was stunning and the silk cut livery was beautiful! but im afraid im a porsche guy through and through! although the aston amr1 was no ugly duckling. it had potential but unfortunately wasnt succesful so it was never really developed.

is the c11 the sauber merc? the one that recorded fastest speed at le mans on the mulsanne. im going to have to stick with the porsche. a piece of automotive excellence!

Fastest was the WM Peugeot.
The C9 apparently did 250mph as well |

ok maybe not the fastest then! i knew it touched 250mph but they were the days of no chicanes and a larger hump. the car was probably running in low drag trim aswell. was it turbo powered or normally aspirated? the sauber-merc that is, i think the c9.

Very hard to pick just one. I will also throw in a vote for the Sauber Mercedes C11. Magnifcent racing car. Gotta love that simple understated silver livery. (Peter Sauber, won't you come back to sportscar racing???) Honorable mentions: The Porsche 956/962 is such an enduring image. And the Peugeot 905 is my favorite of the normally aspirated era.

I'd go with the Lancia top, then the LiquiMoly 962 followed by the Sauber in the original dark blue.
The worst was that pink Porsche - yuck! |

I suppose they were technically "Group C" cars , but the newer 3.5 atmo versions ..... I know what you mean though . When these cars came out in 1995 , the first 10 places on the LeMans grid was reserved for atmo engined 3.5 cars , hardly fair cuz they were all "Group C" !!! The Benz C11 would have had it .
That was the year we had a WR on pole and it looked good too !!! This years WR is a beuat , hope its not yellow though , or red or silver !!! Last edited by The Badger; 12 Mar 2004 at 12:01. |

I don't think that was the year for the WR pole. As I recall it, the WRs had the front row to themselves in 95. The 905 and TS010 ran in 92 and 93.

Without doubt the Lancia LC2 was the best looking IMHO.
The 956 was good too.I liked JDavid & Skoal J Fitzpatrick cars best. The Bovis Aston Martin looked petty good too as did the later car, the name of which I can't recall! |
