Stinky should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Pembrey - 15 / 16 May 04

If anyone's at Pembrey this weekend, come over and say hi, it'd be nice to meet some 10 tenths people. :-)

Actaully, it went really badly. I got a terrible grid position in for the first race and thought it was because I didn't get a tow in practice. The first couple of laps of the race went OK, then the car slowed down!!??!!. I landed up 8th because a few people fell off. I drew a graph of my lap times and it became clear that my car was about 0.8s per lap slower at the end of the race than at the beginning.

We checked loads of things overnight and opted to retard the ignition a bit. Practice 2 was no better, the car again slowed down steadily thorughout the session. I thought that I could also hear it pinking, but am not 100% sure as my top range hearing is not that good.

Between practice and the race we swapped the engine, same thing happened in race 2 and I got 10th place.

We're completly stumped as to what could be causing it. The two engines have different carburettors and therefore different jetting, but apart from that are the same. I don't know if there's a problem with something getting too hot in the car, or if we've set up something wrong on both engines. The temperatures in both heads on both engines seemed fine.

Anyway, I havn't worked out my chmapionship positions yet, but I was 5th going into Pembrey, and was hoping for a podium finish in one of the races, I think I'll probably be 7th to 9th now. :-(

At least you finished and you probably got a bit of a tan, I'm still bright red and just started peeling!
