Yoong Montoya should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
What's going on with Frankie Chili lately?

After winning the second race at Misano two months ago in utterly brilliant style, Chili looked set to make a good challenge for the championship. But seeing him collide with Toseland and crash out of the second race at Silverstone shows all the signs of a man in desperate need of a good result letting the pressure get to him. Come on Chili! Stay on the bike next time mate!

he is still proving to be very fast though....

The fact that he's anywhere near on a 2-year-old bike at his age is impressive enough, and his luckless weekend at Monza may have shook him.

Chili is getting on a bit and is riding an old machine. Let's give him credit for being able to at least battle with Toseland on a sparkling new Ducati!!!

Is Chili still using the old 998 Ducati? I thought he might be using the 999 by now.

He's certainly exciting to watch, but given his experience he shouldn't really be throwing it down the road like he is doing now. Hopefully he'll get his head together soon. I think the championship is a little too far out of reach for Chili now, but if he can get himself sorted out, he could finish the year with a win or 2 ala Xaus 2001.

Isn't he using the 998 chassis with the 999 engine or something like that?

I think that's what he used when he won at Misano but I'm not sure whether he's still using it now.

Chilli is not riding a 2 year old bike hes riding a 2 year old frame with 2004 parts. The reason for the old bike is he said that he didnt like the 999 that much, same with Hodgson the new Ducatis are fast but alot of people riding them are having problems with the front end.

I dont know whats up with the guy he flies through the pack at silverstone from way back but then just crashes it!, i think hes got good speed but hes making lots of costly mistakes which he shouldnt really do given his experience.

maybe the fact that he flew thru the people at silverstone totally cooked his tyres and led to him coming off??????? just an idea

Chili has done this crtash and burn thing all the way through his career, it is why he has never won a title, despite being one of the fastest riders in the world at any given time in 250,500 or WSB
