11tenths should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Seeking General Impressions of the Monaco GP

I'm planning on seeing and hearing the event May 22nd, and am interested in seeking opinons from those who have attended this event personally. I'll most likely be choosing a grandstand seat and paying through the nose, but I've narrowed choices down a bit already.

Since I want to follow the race as well as see the up close action, sitting in a section with a monitor is key. Overtaking vantage points would add to the excitement, but I'm not really counting on too many bold moves on such a narrow and unforgiving circuit.

This map gives a pretty good idea what the choices are, but it ain't like being there!

Your thoughts and experiences are appreciated, and if I win the lottery and end up parking my yacht over by Piscine, I'll keep you all posted!

Thanks!

Take a look at the other thread on this 11-tenths...
Gabrio is right, you want to sit at Tabac where you can see the cars heading down the waterfront towards you and then swing past into the swimming pool complex.
You can't see either of the likely overtaking points properly from public areas: I watched qualifying from the bridge above the chicane in 2002 but I had a drivers pass and a race suit on and even then they weren't massively happy with me being there.
Cheers
RickP

Steve Wilkinson is a back marker
Casino Square

The place for THE sound of Monaco is Casino Square. The noise reverberates off the buildings. There are precious few places where the drivers overtake and little chance of spectating there.

jonboyG has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
I agree with RickP - around the harbour would be best. It really helps if you havbe a view of the big screens too. I was there in 2002 and we were right behind the screen on the way up from Ste Devote - fairly annoying.

By the way, thanks for showing me and my friend round the pits Rick.

The grandstand name is Tribune K8. On your left you will be able to see a giant screen and from there you will see the exit of the chicane, the virage du Tabac and the entrance of the swimming pool. No other place in Monaco will allow you to see as much.
