Matchams is back

Racing could be back on at Matchams - lovellracing have taken over the track lease, done some maintenance work and got the short circuit running. 15 quid for a half day, 25 full any day of the week for testing too.

As its non-RAC licenced you dont need an MSA ARKS test thing so its the ideal place to start. Go buy urself a cheap 100 , Rotax or ProKart and start karting. Its just outside Bournemouth and a great place to start racing.

I remember back when i raced at Matchems in a Pro-kart, i loved the atmosphere everyone was really friendly, the only thing i disliked where those damn tree roots! which made overtaking impossible down the home straight because if you went of line u hit the roots :P

What's the story with rules at unlicensed places (I guess they are all different)? Can we run unsealed Maxes or sticky tyres on a 100 National?

At Wild Tracks they are waiting to be licensed and they run by the blue Book for rules, guess most places are like that or people just wouldn't race

OK

Wouldn't it be great if there was a really open class though? Keep it out of S1 so the spending doesn't get silly and let us tinker

I was laughing, because usually at non-licensed tracks they are highly liberal in the classes they run. For example, Woodthorpe (also known as Strubby) circuit (see here and here)there is one 100cc senior class. Open to ALL 100cc engines, there are no weight or tyre restrictions. I end up at 147kg's and run international spec Vega XT tyres It's a laugh because the karts are so stupidly quick it's mental. However rules regarding poor driving are as strict as anywhere else, it's not a free for all in that sense.

You should have a go there.

Matchams get a Grand Prix date!!!!!!!!!!!

Moto-X thats is...
http://www.crash.net/uk/en/news_view...=29&nid=107296

How come they can get a GP there and yet George cant even tempt 30 karts for a non-MSA licenced meeting on Easter Sunday?? Apathy that why. Such a shame, I believe he only got 10 entries all told.

And heres the worse bit, I did'nt even get my entry in on time! I feel such a spanner, altho my foul-up was partly due to uncretainties about work commitments. Anyway just goes to show, always get your entries in early.

Oh and George says he wont have problems filling a grid of Mini-Motos there.

Shame its not karts tho :-(

Especially as I've now gotta spend Easter Sunday with the in-laws *grrrr*

Alex, looked at the section on your site for that circuit. That chicane is tighter and narrower than the pit entrence where i race which is an MSA recognised and licensed circuit!!!

Yup it's daft I've rolled there twice, bah! Thank goodness I'm racing in 125 g/box now! It's about as tight as the pit entrance at PFI!

All corners are unsafe, but some are more unsafe than others I don't like it, but I was still quick through it IMHO.

There's a chicane at Ellough which i have seen too many nasty accidents for my liking including a very nasty roll, the corner terrifies me however in Juniors i was always the quickest through it and often got the kart half a foot off the ground with 3 wheels airborn apparently (according to drivers behind) maybe thats why im so scared tho!! Cos i drive like a **** through it!!

Anyone else find corners they don't like they are actually quick through?
