Identifying a historic race car -Singapore GP
I'm wondering if this will get me anywhere. The link below shows pictures I took of a derelict rce car - spaceframe front/rear, monocoque cockpit. No engine, just a 4-branch manifold lying around. I found it in Singapore in the late 80s but could't trace ownership. I presume that it was raced in the 60s and 70s in the region. Any help would be appreciated.

This is a really difficult one; not found anything like it yet, but will keep looking. I agree, probably a small mid 60's GT.

Diva or Chevron
Diva Demon/Valkyr or Chevron B3/B6? Stratos-like front windscreen, gullwing door, look closely at the exhaust headers - flangelss and very much like what would go on a Lotus Twin Cam. De dion rear a bit strange though. Girling AP calipers and Triumph Herald suspension bits/hubs common to such cars. Even the trailer is period - Mini rims on that one and with 3 3/4 PCD on the race car.
Enough clues? Peter Heath raced a Diva GT in Macau (Class F, Sports cars) in 1966. Not sure about B3 or B6 Chevrons in Asia though. Link: http://www.currypotproductions.com/LostNFound.htm Eli |

As you say the screen looks like a Stratos, but the rest doesn't!
It might help if there were some pictures of the rear suspension - uprights tend to be the biggest clue (not that this has them if it is a De-Dion). Front is certainly pretty normal Herald. Is the De-dion tube really standing high up in the air? Odd enough having a De-Dion on such a modern looking car (square tube frame is also a sign of a 'later' car), but normally they would be horizontal rather than vertical. Exhaust manifold does look to be Lotus twin-cam - can't think of anything else with the last flange reversed. But is it definitely from that car? What's happened to the car, is it still there? |
