05/06 Silly Season!

I think we have enough juice to get the silly season up and running, don’t you?
I’ll get the ball rolling.
My THEORIES are as follows:

1> TPR will be no more after the loss of Castrol, Larry’s been looking for the way out for a while now anyway (releasing Richo from his contract as a consequence).
2> James Courtney will replace Toddler at HRT
3> Rod Nash once again as a separate entity will run Dumbrell in Autobarn colours with Perkins Engineering Hardware.
4> Todd goes to GRM (no where else to go).
5> Team Dynamik lease the #44 licence to PCR to run a single Falcon entry for Luff. The Dynamik garage, hardware and employees are still in use by the Longhurst Racing #45 licence. Wills finds a suitable pay check at WPS (letting Dynamik get back on its feet with PCR and Longhurst lease money) and Gore gets the semi-name driver he’s looking for to have the ‘attack’ on his third and final year in the championship.
6> Yes, Richo will get the Pirtek seat!
7> Welcome back Dean!
8> Owen, A Jones, Besnard and A Davison OUT

Interesting prospects Archer. All very much realistic and possible. It will be interesting to see what unfolds.
I have to say though, I am A GRM supporter and I don't think Garry will get rid of Andy at season's end - he's contracted to the team till end of '06. We will definately see the better side of Andy as the year progresses - watch out at Bathurst. That, as far as I am concerned, will be his make or break weekend. He'll have to be quick...

McLaren F1s and Ferrari 550s are hardly touring cars - that would totally miss the point of the series!

I think that if Andy Jones got kicked out of GRM, he would go back to the family team and take Brad's seat. Brad would then retire.

I also expect Dean Canto will be back in the main series next year - the question is - WHERE?
Dick Johnson would love to keep him I'm sure - he fits so well into the DJR family. The problem is 3 drivers into 2 cars won't go.
Gatorz normally sponsor drivers rather than teams in the US - and are clearly happy with Deano. Maybe they would be interested in funding a main series drive for him
if there are going to be all these licences available as Archer suggests.
It's a shame running 3 cars from one team has been such a hassle in the past - otherwise all of the above could happen - and wouldn't that be nice.
I guess this is similar to what looks like happening for Warren Luff/Decina/PCR - but they'll only have the one car.

The PCR discussions are optimism personified.... the noise in last week's press was to raise the flag on an option, and see who may be interested. The team principals readily admit to requiring external sponsorship, and a franchise... they have a car... and a crew presumably.. 2/4 aint bad

Glenn signed a two-year deal with DJR. Contracts may only be worth a piece of paper nowadays (nothing beats the handshake), but, Glenn isn't performing disastrously, and has a definite chance to win races this year. Of course, we don't know if there were performance options in the contract. Steve could be the DJR driver to leave, but it would be sheer stupidity for him to.

all you guys are speculating with four rounds (incl. AGP) of 14 that things will remain the same and are predicting what could be up to 10 months away. My personal opinion is to leave it and find another post or another hobby!

At the risk of sounding rude or offending anybody, but i have a question. How do figure Glenn Seton has a definite chance to win races this year?
In total so far this year we've had 7 practice/qualifying sessions and Glenn's only been in the top 10 once and in the 8 races we've had this years he only finished in the top 10 twice. Dont get me wrong, I think Glenn is a good driver, and his talents in his early years across the top of the mountain in the wet one year was truly awesome, but I dont think he will win a race this season, however I will stand corrected. From looking over this years results to date, I would say Paul Dumbrell has a better and legitimate chance of winning races this season. He has show good pace, with top 10s in both 2 hour sessions, top 15 qual at Clipsal 500 and a shootout appearance in NZ.

In WA, DJR and Glenn both looked genuinely quicker than they have for a long time. They both appeared to cracked whatever it is that was preventing them from going fast. The only way is up for both DJR and Glenn. As for Dumbrell, the jury is certainly out. I won't offer an opinion on that.

I can't see any reason why DJR wouldn't honour Seto's 2 year contract.
Some very odd configurations on that list tiko.

DJR apparently tested very well at QR last Friday as reported by Mitch at Club17.

Both Jnr & Seto were very quick straight out of the truck & Johnson held quickest time for most of the day untill being pipped by Ingall & Marcos later in the day. Jnr still finished the day 3rd fastest ahead of Lowndes, Seto, Ellery, Canto, Davison, Bargs & Frosty.

Encouraging signs 4 DJR & should do very well at the Creek with a lot of people tipping Seton to do very well at a track he has had a lot of success at.

I think Seton will be at DJR for some time to come & I'm sure he has had a lot to do with the resurgence of the legendry team in 2005...

Methinks a combination of a couple of very very clever F1-experienced engineers is leading the DJR speed resurgence... with a driver more than happy to work with a team with a strong technical depth...
