Looks great, sure hope the cars will handle more realistically this time around! fingers crossed. It's a fun arcade racer though, had some fun with RD2. The lack of depth in the physics makes it sort of boring after a while.

I just hope they retain (or improve) Pro-Sim mode AND (and this is the biggie) the ability to race any car on any track. I want to [a] race a formula ford around Sandown and [b] race the Masters (F1) car around Bathurst!

I hope they pick up where SimBin failed with GTR and have the cars sound like they actually do in real life! GTR failed pretty miserably with that, despite the high sound quality!
I also hope they have all the old tracks they had before - wud like to throw an F1 car around Oulton Park! |

Lets hope they can actually have physics this time that resemble real life...
TRD2's physics engine is a unbelieveable, total, awful, awful, awful joke. Great graphics, and decent sound, but why do cars take off 2 feet into the air over tiny bumps that probably don't exist on the real racetracks? EDIT: taking a look at the pics, I don't like the look of those kerbs, they look like the same totally unrealistic kerbs they used in TRD2, (and there was only one kind for every racetrack?!? ) |

Those screenshots aren't the real deal, they're heavily photoshopped. All the blurring has been put in afterwards (I can tell because they missed some spots here and there!). I've also got my doubts about the smoke and shadows I'm seeing in these images.

At least they have the freshest possible cars, 2005, on those series which base on real life, like V8 Supercars, DTM and British GT.

British GT on RD3 is from 2004, not 2005. Not quite the freshest, but frankly the '04 grid was a better sight anyway - at this point in time in 2005 (compared to '04) we now lack all Lotuses, Corvette's, the Ultima, not to mention the BMW's we had at the start of this year too. BGT is rapidly losing it's trademark variety of cars.
So I don't blame them for using the 2004 season instead. If I had my way they'd research it a bit more and have 2001 or 2002 instead what's the deal with the single seaters? I see they have some older F1 cars in there - are they just one-off's or can we expect grids Thoroughbred GP style? (forgive my spelling of that word!) |

Looks bloody good for sure. I'll frankly be staggered though if they manage to get the Karting anywhere near right.
oh, and there's a little feature on the game from Gamespot here. |

Does this new release still feature the BTCC cars? that'll be where the race driver name comes from, along with Joe Taylor's remark - plus, have rights to a name and they'll use it to sell a product

Obviously, the fact the BTCC tourers aren't in there is slightly strange, but sadly, I doubt the majority of potential buyers will even notice its omission. Either way, from the last build I played of it last week, anyone who liked Race Driver 2 will love this - just like anyone who didn't like Race Driver 2 will hate it. |

I guess the BTCC's grids have been far too small, certainly this year, to warrant being in the game. Although the DTM's seemingly uncertain future could have an effect on future titles.
Is FBMW in there? will be interesting to see if they've made that even the slightest bit different to the other national level single seaters in there, other than a carshape and different top speed. |

Reading between the lines, it's more likely that there just wasn't the interest amongst the series' fanbase for 2.0L saloons, although the grid sizes for this year's BTCC would have been an issue.
But on the plus side, FBMW is included - can't vouch for how it stacks up against the FPA and F-3 machinery included, because I didn't have time to sample those bits of the game, but apparently it is "in". |

I thought I saw from a picture an FRenault UK car too but I could have been fooled and could easily have been something else...

It wouldn't surprise me if the FRenaults were in as well - I think the UK Formula Fords are included, too. Next time I speak to the Codies PR guys I'll ask them if they have a complete car/championship list handy.

Looks really good I think. I loved RD2 so I hope this is just as good, if not better.
Thanks for the links everyone. Some very nice screens and I like the idea of old F1 cars. |

Yeah - maybe in future verisons they could look at a proper Thoroughbred GP idea...
