Sorry to read about your withdrawal JNR. I was in a similar situation 20 years ago in FF1600. Money had run out and i had business plans. The IT business has been a great success but the return to motor sport has taken a little longer than anticipated at the time. Just dont know where the time went. Anyway good luck.

Thats because they dont try hard enough plus the way they are made you would not want to crash

I've just read North West News on www.clubff1600.co.uk
Very sad news for NW FF1600 Ian.
I hope your plans work out the way you want them to. There'll always be a brew for you at the Race Centre.

p.s. Don't suppose you fancy marshalling on 12th June now then?

MJP should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Hi All

thanks for all the replies and advice, I didn't expect so many replies!!

I'll be going to the next race at Oulton and might get to the Anglesey meeting the week before. So if you get accosted by a lost looking guy it may well be me. I'm hoping to get on a course with ARDS in the next few weeks, and then will take it from there, Ideally I'd like a few days with an instuctor, then get my own car to test with for the rest of the year before starting "proper" racing next year at the start of the season, or maybe even for the last couple of rounds of this one.
Thanks for all your replies, I lookforward to meeting you all soon

Cheers

Mike

Glad to hear this. I suggest you find Diz (Ian Smith) at the "Moose" unit in the paddock. See www.brsccnw.com He will be keen to help you and most of the NWFF drivers will be happy to discuss any questions with you.
See you then

Oh shucks Mike, I was trying to keep my identity secret
BTW The Ian Smith on TT is not me, but a Midlands based marshal - nice bloke. I've met him a couple of times.

most of the f/ford racers also test on the Friday before so if your in the area you can always pop in and see what goes on.

What time is the testing done on a Friday?, I normally have to work, but if it's mid afternoon onwards, I might be able to get there?

cheers

Interesting thread. Can maybe someone give an indication of the running costs of a season of Club FF? Buying a car, spares, fuel etc etc.

Have a look at the thread - cheap forms of motorsport, started by Scott Day. There's a lot of cost details in that. Any specific questions - pm me and I'll try to help.

Thanks

You just made me a pretty happy man. I always thought budgets were a lot higher. I looked into doing a season of FF once in the Netherlands, much more expensive that Club FF, and the fields are half the size
