It 'll all depend on what he has to work with when he gets there.
I'd agree with 2 years, provided Ford have a competitive and reliable power plant.Jag will also need its own windtunnel if they are going to fully utilize Mr Neweys remarkable skills. |

I'd say 4 or 5. To seriously challenge Jaguar will also need (besides Newey) a better engine from Cosworth and a better driver line-up - Irvine and De La Rosa are hardly a strong pairing.

Well it took TGW and his band of merry men four years to turn Ferrari around. So at least that.

AMofat, this is not a proper example. And is inaccurate anyway. Luca di Montezemolo re-joined Ferrari in ’91, Jean Todt in ’93, Schumacher in ’96 and the rest of the merry band in ‘97. Ferrari started to win races on regular basis in 96 and since 97 they were one of the top two. So it took more than 4 years of hard work. And it was Ferrari.
How long would it take Jaguar to be a force? With or without Newey, one more year than Honda and one less than Renault. |

Forever.
There are too many cooks stirring the broth over at Jaguar, so have to subtract 5 years for every meddler from middle management upwards who has to justify his existence by changing something or cancelling something or wasting everyone's time in meetings about things that were decided two years ago. And better pilots. |

By the time they get around to being a top team, (and they will), Irvine and PDLR will be long gone- 2004-2005 at the earliest.
